Round-Up...

It was a good night for TV as the majorty of shows did good work and even the losers for CW were not as bad normal.

DWTS was solid as normal but more important was that Samantha Who number's have gone back up but The Bachelor needs to be rested or cancelled.

Despite a dip from the norm in terms of House's ratings, it was a very good night for FOX. Bones the sleeper hit was solid and the episode it self was wonderful but the return of House gave the big numbers for FOX to secure 2nd place and the lower than normal numbers are nothing more than a blip due to the monday slot and long hiatus break.

CBS has nothing to worry about with the numbers ranging from decent to winners but I still feel that TBBT and HIMYM should switch timeslots and remember HIMYM has not been picked up yet though I expect it will be.

NBC had a typical normal night and for me DoND/Meduim could make up a wonderful 2009 night for NBC next mid-season with IMO on wednesdays with Knight Rider at 8pm.

The CW was still a loser but its shows weren't as bad as normal, however One Tree Hill has suffered as early on it was getting 3 million a week. My suggestion is CW should partner Gossip Girl with Next Top Model and One Tree Hill with Reaper.

One Tree Hill won't be paired with Reaper because the suits have officially given up on Reaper. It's a goner with its low ratings plus its very low 18-34 demo. One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl always have very high 18-34 demos as opposed to their low 18-49 demos.

One of the posters over at sn.tv read a detailed article about the financial situation at CW in one of the more serious business trade publications. It's swimming in red ink so bad that it'll be out of money completely in three years if things don't reverse. It would have to borrow to stay afloat. One Tree Hill brings in some syndication money because CW has a piece of its deal with soapnet airing the old episodes. Gossip Girl is still the pet project that may "grow." Reality is cheap to produce and Smallville and Supernatural are both Warner shows. Warner's in the position to agree to reduced license fees to air both shows because it knows it'll eventually get a return on its investment in DVD profits, syndication, and that big ass international market revenue that Supernatural already brings in. That's why they both got early 22 episode renewals.

Reaper is produced by ABC Studios. ABC hasn't agreed to reduce the license fee for Reaper. Factor in the shit for itunes sales and the atrocious 18-34 demo for its new eps and it's history. It'll stay paired with BATG until it's over. Any tick up that it gets because Fox moved House to Mondays won't matter. CW managed to rush two last minute pilots into production after the strike--the 90210 spinoff thing and something about how to teach filthy rich girls how to be bitches or something like that. One of those will take Reaper's place. Focusing on those teen girls is the business strategy now.

So help me for the love of Xenu if HIMYM doesn't get renewed I'm going to fly down to the CBS HQ and burn that mofo down.

Unfortunately, Temis, ABC probably isn't going to budge on the license fee. If it had Reaper would have gotten a renewal already. God knows CW is going to hang on for dear life to this "teen girl skank demo" formula until it officially goes down the toilet. Did you see my thread below about Girlicious' first video? That's the new girl group that was formed from Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious that just finished airing on CW. That's the demo CW wants. One of the posters thought for a second that it might be a parody video, but it isn't. It's actually called "Stupid Shit."

CW doesn't want the audience who'd find Reaper witty. It doesn't want boys and it certainly doesn't want many viewers above their 20s. If there were an official 18-30 demo for advertisers CW would be all over it, but it's teen demos, 18-34, 18-49, and so on. CW doesn't even want the demo that likes my show, Supernatural. It's too old, too. Too many pesky fans in their 30s and such and too many boys, but it's Warner produced so it's lucky. If it weren't Dawn O would have gotten rid of it by now.

This is the demo CW wants. This is what they're fighting to get and retain. The people who worship Gossip Girl.

I don't think it's a stretch to say we all could of run the CW better than the current lot in charge. It amazes me what these so called Network exec's do and then refuse to take the blame.

Why did WB even need to do this merger in the first place, it was doing better than the UPN on its own.

Way back when in the stone age when I was a teenager I liked rocker chicks like Joan Jett or Pat Benatar, Temis. What was I thinking, huh? This is what's marketed at young girls today. It's more about the looks than the music. Dawn Ostroff is gonna pursue that teen/young women demo into the ground whether it takes the network with her or not, and Les Moonves is letting her do it. You can't focus on such a narrow demo and make promises to advertisers who want their money without paying dearly in the pocketbook. I think CBS and Warner must both be looking for tax write offs by this point. Ostroff sees that 3.0 in the young girl/teen demo for Gossip Girl, and she's holding on for dear life to that type of programming now. These rush job 90210 type pilots are from last year. Dawn O has no more interest in Reaper, sadly.

I don't even remember why the WB agreed to the merger. It was a bad move on their part, and I think the WB execs are kicking themselves over it. I know that they're pissed off at how poorly the CW is doing, and that former UPN folks (like Dawn Ostroff) are running the network.

The fact that the WB is "relaunching" itself as a website where people can watch old WB shows (like Gilmore Girls, Dawson's Creek, etc.) goes to show that they're probably trying to distance themselves from the CW. Perhaps when that joke of a network finally dies, the WB will come back.

It's becoming clearer every day why Veronica Mars was doomed at The CW.
