TV Ratings - 5x11 (The Lodger) + Finals 5x10

Very low numbers but don't panic just yet finals will boost and also there is a good reason that BBC understands (Cue comments anyway about Moffat failing)...

Doctor Who got an audience of 4.6 million viewers for episode eleven, The Lodger, according to unofficial overnight figures

share was down to 22.3%

However the reason for this was the World Cup which saw millions not at home but at pubs, clubs, parks etc to watch England vs. USA which kick off after Who but had the build up directly opposite.

Here is how big the match was

The England v USA match had an average audience of 13.2 million and easily is the most watched programme of the week. It peaked at 19.4 million

The pub audience is never counted right so actually add several millions to that total.

GOOD NEWS...

The Appreciation Index figure for The Lodger was 87, joint highest of the series so far.

Just under half a million watched the BBC 3 repeat but I player numbers and people who recorded the episode is expected to be above average boosting final numbers

FINAL NUMBERS...

Final figures for Episode Ten, Vincent and the Doctor was watched by 6.76 million viewers

Overnight numbers were 5.0 million

So I expect 5x11 numbers to be over 6 million come finals well above the lowest number in the revival which occured in 2006 under DT 1st season as the 10th Doctor.

Yeah those overnight figure always seem to be off a good bit, but i still think moving Who to a March start time slot would do more good than harm, i definitely think these few sunny summer nights we have been getting of late over the last few weeks have eroded some of those viewing figures.

Still though its pulling in the viewers.
