Bare in mind the finals will be higher as shown in episode 1 which increased by over 2 million by the end...

The Beast Below was watched by 6.7 million viewers, according to unofficial overnight figures

No need to be down though cause...

Doctor Who's share was 34%. Although a drop on the previous week, the programme was still the most watched of the day, beating the second-placed National Lottery by 0.8 million viewers.

The programme had an audience of 6.4 million on BBC One, with an additional 330,000 watching on BBC HD

On BBC Three, Doctor Who Confidential was watched by 0.56 million viewers, a 2.7% share of the audience

The highest peak of the day was between 4.15pm and 4.30pm when 7.6 million watched the Grand National horse race on BBC One.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix performed the best for ITV1, with 5.7 million watching the network premiere. The FA Cup had an average of 3.3 million viewers, with a peak of 4.9 million against Doctor Who

It is very rare for a programme placed so early in the evening to top the ratings for the day, especially on what was, wether-wise, one of the Saturdays of the year so far in the UK. It was a nice saturday too I spent a few hours just chilling outside and personally watched Doctor Who on I Player :techman:

Sunshine, Early slot and FA cup could not stop the Doctor...now bring on the daleks :p

It is a very good figure taking into account all those factors. I thought the FA Cup would walk all over Who, but I was way wrong. It seems the FA Cup has lost a bit of the magic it had when it was on the BBC.

Is it just me or are Moffat's episodes often the ones with the lowest ratings, but the highest praise?

 Seems like that, rememer The Impossible Planet being like 5.5 million for original airdate though repeat audience was larger than normal. BBC needs to keep the slot time between 6:45pm-7pm. Really 7pm all the time and Webber/Norton can just suck it with there stupid reality show.

With all the factors its good news for the Smith/Moffat era and the finals for me will see it score at least 7.5 million if not 8 million (not including repeat finals)...

Speaking of repeats here are the inital overnight repeat numbers from sunday...

The Sunday repeat was watched by 0.75 million viewers, where it was the 5th most watched programme of the day on multi -channel television.

The Beast Below achieved an AI score of 86
