TV Pilot based on DC Comics character Christopher Chance

The 1992 Human Target series was an excellent show, I thought. It was from Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo, producers of the 1990 The Flash TV series and writers of the movie The Rocketeer. Springfield was effective as Christopher Chance, and the series was an interesting exploration of the psychology of a man who'd constantly put himself in the line of fire to help strangers. It also put a lot of thought into the technology behind his disguises, giving the heroes a computerized mask-making system very much like what was used over a decade later in Mission: Impossible III. It had cutting-edge doubling effects, moving beyond the usual side-by-side split screen to have the doubles (Chance and the person he was disguised as) walk around each other or interact physically -- stuff that happens all the time in TV and movies these days, but that The Human Target pioneered.

Unfortunately, the show never found an audience and wasn't renewed past its initial 7-episode order. Hopefully if this new version gets made, it'll lead to a DVD release of the Bilson/DeMeo series.
