This week's choice, from a suggestion, is Jonathan Rhys Meyers--best known for his portrayal of a young King Henry VIII in "The Tudors."

Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers first gained notoriety for his lead role in Todd Haynes’ Velvet Goldmine (1998), a surreal examination of 1970s glam rock in which he portrayed a sort of fictional hybrid of David Bowie and Iggy Pop. Meyers gave captivating performances in several controversial and little-seen films including Ang Lee’s Ride with the Devil(1999) and the screen adaptation of Prozac Nation (2000) before receiving a profile boost in the British hit Bend it Like Beckham (2004). Following an Emmy and Golden Globe nominated performance as “Elvis” (2005) in the miniseries of the same name, Rhys Meyers began to appear in high profile American features Match Point (2005) and Mission: Impossible III (2006). For his challenging work portraying voracious King Henry VIII in Showtime’s “Tudors” (2007) Rhys Meyers received his second Golden Globe nomination.

He was chosen by Cosmopolitan Magazine as one of the 100 Most Sexy Men In The World, in 1998. He also became the face of the Versace men's collection of Autumn/Winter 2006 and Spring 2007, as well as of the new fragrance of Hugo Boss.

I'm torn. Sometimes I think, "YOWZA. He really is gorgeous," and other times, I think, "He is just waaay too pretty to turn me on."

I'll have to go with thumbs sideways.

He is a little too pretty, isn't he?

I think he looks curiously like a young Eddie Izzard in that shot from Velvet Goldmine.

Appropriately wussy-looking, but he's got an odd face. Sort of anemic and googly-eyed. I'm saying meh.

He first came to my notice as the assassin in Michael Collins. But his performance in Gormenghast was fantastic. That was one of the best fantasy movie adaptations ever done in my opinion.

Thumbs sideways for me too. Some of those pictures had me saying "Damn, he's sexy!" and others had me saying "Eh, not so much."

Not mine :drool: I think he's sex-on-a-stick...especially as Henry :drool::drool:

Several :techman::techman::techman:

Oh, and may I add, he looks mighty fine in a suit:

Be careful. I see nipple in one of the pictures from "The Tudors". Some prude might complain and get your thread clanged.;)

He's pretty. He might be a little too pretty, and, dare I say it, I sometimes think he's a little inspid-looking. Still, I'm going to give him a thumbs up. probably because of, rather than despite, all that!
