No Batman. 
Okay, last week we dealt with horses, this week we'll be dealing with the workhorses of policework, the people endlessly sleuthing away to solve the crime and get the baddie.
I'll accept any private eye and/or an official detective policeperson from any media. I'll be fairly liberal in allowing entries if the person involved doesn't really fit under those two categories, but the stories involved are detective stories (I'm looking at you, Jessica Fletcher).
Sci-Fi and fantasy is allowed, but I'm still arbitrarily excluding Batman even if he is duly deputized (so technically I should have called this World's Second Greatest Detective
