suggested by Praetor_Shinzon, this week's theme is any TV show or Movie widely regarded as being utter rubbish. We're talking your total flops like Heaven's Gate or BBC's soap Eldorado as well as Golden Raspberry winners, like Showgirls. I'll be leniant and allow SF and F this week since I can already think of 3 possible entries. you have until Friday. usual forum avatar rules apply.
Catwoman From Wikipedia - This film received seven Golden Raspberry nominations in 2005, including Worst Supporting Actress (Sharon Stone), Worst Supporting Actor (Lambert Wilson) and Worst Screen Couple (Halle Berry and either Benjamin Bratt or Sharon Stone). It won in the categories of Worst Picture, Worst Actress (Halle Berry), Worst Director, and Worst Screenplay. Berry, while clutching her Academy Award statuette, accepted the award for Worst Actress personally...
I can't believe I spent money to see this turd. Peter Travers of Rolling Stone criticized the film by comparing it to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: "Beware 2012, which works the dubious miracle of almost matching Transformers 2 for sheer, cynical, mind-numbing, time-wasting, money-draining, soul-sucking stupidity." ^ I second this.
It would have been better for all of humanity if they had simply taken a pile of money and set it on fire, rather than use it to make this "movie."
Oscar winner Ben Kingsley and Kristiana Loken in Uwe Boll's Bloodrayne. I dare you to watch it sober. 2012 is my guilty pleasure. It's so mind-blowingly stupid and so much shit blows up for no apparent reason that it makes the movie awesome. Also, Woody Harelson is hilarious in it.
Some of you younger folks may not be familiar with this classic turkey from 1966. Stephen Boyd plays an amoral S.O.B. who claws his way to movie stardom. Appallingly bad performances all around, cliche-ridden script, and Tony Bennett (yes, the singer) attempting an acting performance. Just sit back and wallow in the cheese. (Harlan Ellison is one of the credited writers.)
The OP is a bit redundant, saying total flops as well as Golden Raspberry winners. Any godawful movie is acceptable.
"Godawful movie" is also a very broad definition and very personal matter too. I think that maybe some other criterion of awfulness can be applied, let's say below 4 on IMDB or below 10-20% on RottenTomatoes or something like that. Everyone has their definition and examples of godawful movies. The last Transformers was the single worst movie experience I've ever had, and I once willingly watched 3 of the most terrible Uwe Boll's movies ...
The funny thing is, most of the movies I own are "bad" movies, but many of them scored pretty high at RT. Not this one.
nominees too. basically. yes, it is personal. i guess any film with a crap rating on imdb or RT will be acceptable. and don't forget, shit TV shows are acceptable too!
