Welcome to the all new TV & Media Avatar Contest! :)

This weeks theme is Racist Stereotypes in TV & Media

Storytellers have often relied on stereotypes as a shorthand to explain characters. But as we all know, stereotypes are harmful. They can bolster negative perceptions, justify prejudice, and reinforce unsympathetic views about particular groups. For children not born with white skin, seeing racial stereotypes can affect self-esteem and add to the cumulative trauma of prejudice.

Standard avatar contest rules:

Max image size 200x200px.

Max file size 1mb.

You may enter up to 3 times.

SF&F is allowed.

NB: Anyone who likes entries in this contest is a racist. ;)

... so let's amplify the stereotypes and their harm by posting a bunch of them in this thread?

I'm sorry, @Orac , perhaps you mean well by trying to shine a light on the ugliness of racism, but I personally don't feel it's appropriate to propagate stereotypes, and I won't be participating in the contest.

I agree. I'm not suggesting that this was made in bad faith, but we don't need to highlight racist stereotypes in fiction on our board, and this feels like something that will end badly.

As an alternative suggestion, how about a theme of positive examples of diversity in TV?
