Hi all, our contest theme for this week is all about games!
Your entry can depict any movie or television/streaming show based on or related to a game. It can be any type of game: video, tabletop, or board. Note that "based on" doesn't mean that the movie or show has to follow the same plot of the game it's based on. But wait, there's more! In addition, your entry can also depict any movie or television/streaming show where a game makes up a major part of the plot, whether or not the game exists in real life or not. (To give a Star Trek-related example, something from the DS9 episode "Move Along Home" would be eligible, because the game is a major part of the plot, but Kirk and Spock playing chess in "Where No Man Has Gone Before" would not be eligible, because it was just a brief scene and was not related to the plot of the episode.)
One major exclusion to note: although they are technically playing a game, I want to exclude sports movies, as I feel they could be a contest all on their own. The only exception to this is, if there was a sports movie that was based on or related to a specific game or game series, then that would be OK.
Standard avatar contest rules apply: entries must be no more than 200 x 200 pixels and 1MB, and must be SFW. Please identify the movie or show you have entered, as well as the game it is based on/related to, if it is not immediately obvious (ie - if the movie/show and the game have the same title, then no need to mention the game separately). SF&F is allowed for this contest. I am planning to leave the contest open for a week, with the poll going up on Sunday, August 2. I'm liking that "one entry per day" rule that has been used recently, so let's say that you can enter as often as you like, but only one entry per day. I'm not yet sure if I will enter anything myself, but I will wait at least 48 hours before entering.
It's been a while since I've run one of these, so hopefully I haven't forgotten anything. And apologies to anyone expecting a Sherlock Holmes theme.
