TV Licenses / Taxes in the UK

I hate all the soaps with a passion, but there is something i hate even more than a soap.....and that's the scottish soaps.

In a scottish soap accent "Farquhar, go into the kitchenet and see if there is any bread in the breed tin". lol

I dunno man, River City is kinda engrossing in a weird sort of way.

I detest soaps as a rule, although I watch Eastenders (habit from childhood) most nights. There is something magical about that show in the sense that it's continued to attract a wide range of people for nearly 30 years.

^^TV has been slowing dying for me for a long time now........All i got left is Dr Who and a few decent docs a year.....No more Hustle, Harry hills TV burp has gone, Brooker has gone from BBC4, no Top gear till 2013 and no sign of HIGNFY or Would i lie to you.

All i can think of TV wise to look forward to are the return of Red Dwarf and The Kevin Eldon show. :)

There's still plenty of decent stuff to watch but there seems to be a lot of long gaps between things that are really good.

i'd agree with Haggis... British TV has been dying pretty badly all year... with the exception of Doctor who, there isn't a single British show i watch regularly now

M

British shows I can think of that I've watched or really want to watch in the last year or two...

A Touch of Cloth
Spy
The Hour
10 O'Clock Live
Mock The Week
Russell Howard's Good News
Misfits
Beaver Falls
Being Human
Downton Abbey
Sherlock
Doctor Who
Merlin
HIGNFY
QI
Would I Lie To You
Black Mirror
quite a few docs and one offs

Stuff I'm anticipating

BBC One's Spooks replacement, can't remember the name
Happy Endings and whatever the other Perberton and Shearsmith show is
2012-wipe
Red Dwarf X
the Doctor Who making of drama
I have a feeling there's a load of stuff upcoming that I know of and haven't thought of, but that'll do for now.

i'll admit to looking forward to new Merlin and Sherlock... but thats about it for me really...

I'll watch Red Dwarf out of curiosity, but i'm not holding out great hopes for it to be as great as the original stuff

I don't think anyone thinks it will be as great as the original stuff, but I'm holding out hopes, probably shouldn't be.

I forgot about Sherlock and The 10 O'clock show.........i wonder if Jimmy Carr will return and if so what will he being doing seeing as he can no longer take a poke at all the other morally bancrupt scumbags that infest our parliment and banking system.

Should be intresting.

It's strange that I can watch German TV, at least ARD, (they also have a licence fee) on my computer for free in the UK. By the way very good if you are learning German as i am. The law in the uk is if you have any device that can recieve a TV signal you need to have a licence fee which covers your home. Detector vans were just a scare tactic they get there info from cross refrencing with the electoral roll.

WHo knows maybe they'll be a Top Gear Christmas special.
