i tell you what though, i'm just about fed up with all the Zygon stories in nuWho. you'd think they'd bring back the Daleks or the Cybermen, but nooooo, all we get is bloody Zygons and Ice Warriors...
now I know everybody likes to poo-poo it, but I still have quite a fondness for the 1999 HBO miniseries. I mean, hugh laurie playing the doctor? it's worth seeing just for that! that comment about his father being human was a bit weird, though I suppose it's been retconned by last years "lungbarrow" now. the transition from mcgann was great, and I think HBO really gave "who" the space it needed to fully show this epic "time war". It is a pity we haven't gotten a dalek episode in the revival because of it, but I hear they may be working on one for next season!
Oh, please. The HBO series? Am I really supposed to believe that The Doctor is half-Ice Warrior? Sure, it explains why he's so resistant to the cold, but come on. Stupidest plot twist ever.
But that lead into the visually outstanding "The ice of Jupiter" Mini-movie!
i still hate the christmas special with that starship Hindenberg. Such poor taste. Even if Holly Valance was in it.
I just can't believe that Colin Baker lasted for 12 years as the Doctor. He was amazing, if a bit skinny.
I dunno, I could never figure out what had happened in any of his stories. I guess that's what's you get from having P. J. Hammond as producer, director, and head writer. (Better than the Terry Nation years, though, even if Vila was the best companion.)
And Paul Darrow was definitely the best Master ever.
Sherlock is great. Love Darvill's Watson. Any idea what happend to Karen Gillan who guest starred in the second series premiere? Sherlock is the only credit for her on IMDB. She seemed to work well with Smith and Darvill.

Im still waiting to see why this year's Christmas special is set in prehistoric Canada...
^ I think it has to do with the fact that it'll be a British-Canadian co-production next year. Looks like they're seeing to the yearly quota early.
I have mixed feelings about the co-production thing. Seventies Who had quarries, now NuWho has Planet Vancouver. Still, at least there's Michael Hogan as Santa Claus. "Ho Ho Ho, motherfrakkers!!!".

She was actually in an episode of the NuWho, as a priestess in that Lava monster episode in Pompei. Small, non speaking part.
