True Blood: Alan Ball to step down as showrunner after season 5

EW has confirmed rumors that series creator Alan Ball will be stepping down from his duties as showrunner on the hit HBO series if the show returns for a sixth season.

I know that a few people here still follow the show. Does this mean there will be more or less graphic sex scenes and violence?

Who knows? Who cares? True Blood has gone completely down the crapper. With Eric turning into a complete wuss and the writers flushing any chance of Sam and his brother having a relationship down the tubes before even giving it a chance, it's obvious they haven't a clue how to write and sustain a long term storyline. My guess is more sex and soft porn between Bill and Sookie.

Anyone else find it funny that Alan Ball is going to develop a show for Cinemax, the softcore sex channel? He certainly knows his strengths.

It's always stuck closely to its remit. I don't think a change of leadership will make much difference. There are some cast changes that are long overdue but I'm not holding my breath. Perhaps a new hand at the helm will tighten up the writing which has become so lazy that some episodes at the end of the last season could be skimmed quite easily.
