Admiral
Sookie adjusts to changes in Bon Temps; Bill reveals parts of his past; Eric crashes a witches' meeting; Jason finds comfort; Andy struggles with his addiction; Sam learns about Luna's talents; Jessica satisfies her cravings.

Subscribers of HBO get to see a second episode on 6/26 via HBOGO.com. This thread will count for the episode both this week and next.

It was nice finally getting some backstory on Bill.

I miss blond Eric. True, the wig was terrible, but it's been a year, why is his hair still near-black?

Jason tied up in bed, nearly naked? This is relevant to my interests. I had wondered if they were going to do anything with that plot, and they've finally done something ... looks like Jason's going to be a were. Not a Were, mind you, but a were.

So Tara's now called Tony, and is a lesbian. What the heck happened to her in that year? But even as I think that, I think about everything she's gone through ... changing her name is only part of letting go of Bon Temps.

Speaking of Bon Temps ... Now they're saying it's just 22 miles from Shreveport? That's a change I really don't like. For plot purposes, it needs to be an hour away.

More Nan = happy dance! And ... bad 80s hair Nan too.

Anyone else do the double episodes tonight, or are y'all sticking with just one this week, one next?

Much improved. Particularly a very good last 10 minutes. The Compton history parts were very entertaining. Still lots of dull scenes.

High praise to Jessica Tuck (Nan Flanagan) really enjoying her character and performance.

Using soldiers was a pissy way to take out the old Queen.

Considering they could have masterminded that assassination at most any point, other than "to take the credit" Bill didn't actually have to be there.

"Sigh"

Tommy's going to kill Sam, or think that he's killed Sam, to take on Sam's shape and his life.

Nonetheless, what did you expect? Much better than a "fight to the death" involving the two.

Is there some rule that Vampires can't use guns with wooden bullets?

It's done.

Proof that Bill has always been part of a larger conspiracy to change the world.

Of course if he's a real "hero" or even a real "antihero" the lad is going to need to take over this "new" conspiracy too, since he can't trust these other buggers to run the new-world order forever either.

It's such a novelty to think that Bill Thinks.

So is Eric human or just had his mind wiped clean?

I was thinking he was human until he complimented Sookie's "scent".

I'm gonna go with mindwiped.

Correct. Eric doesn't have his memories right now. Amnesia caused by the coven.

Also, I'm hearing from various people that this second episode is also available now via On Demand, so HBO subscribers now have a second way to watch this episode early.

I was laughing so hard during all of the Jason scenes. "I appreciate the licking but I am more of a band-aid guy." :guffaw::guffaw:

They said nothing of the sort. Shreveport was 22 miles from the crossroad Jessica was at, and Bon Temps (which was far enough away to warrant the need of a sign telling you where it was) was in the opposite direction.

Hoyt's house could be quite a distance from Bon Temps to begin with, or Jessica could have been driving off her anger before coming to that particular crossroad.

I see my concern over vampire super-speed I mentioned in the first episode thread was unfounded. Apparently, vamps lose it at gunpoint.

lol. Thought the same thing watching the show-down... "So how are you going to shoot her when she super-speeds away."

They're slow enough for you to see them move, quite easily in fact. A bullet is going to be much, much faster. It would come down to who decided to act first.

Really? I've watched them on the show and they seem to move pretty fast to me. I would think that since the laser sights were all directly focused on her heart that she would have been able (at her age) to speed away from them enough that they wouldn't get a direct hit.

The show seems to be kind of inconsistent at showing how fast vampire speed is. It would seem at times they're moving at least several hundred miles an hour for the older vamps. I would think it would be pretty difficult to shoot something moving that fast. She just kind of gave up and didn't even try to get away though.

Yes.

There's a reason you don't see bullets shooting out of a gun, and there's a reason every window in the area don't shatter when one of True Blood's vampires are on the move. (Hint: One is moving way faster than the other.)

She'd have to move before they pulled the trigger. Just because a vampire is fast, that doesn't mean they're immune to shock or being surprised and confused. It's no different from anyone else freezing when they're surrounded by gunmen rather than instantly diving for cover or otherwise reacting.

Artistic license, I suppose, but I would've been gone before Bill finished describing the bullets. The vamp speed compared to human reaction time would be a gamble I'd try over standing there.

My really wasn't about bullets being fast. I've watched enough mythbusters to see them test things with bullets. It was in your take on the speed on vamps in this show. They look like they're moving pretty fast to me. Much faster than cars. I've been dragged to a Nascar event by my brother and I have to say the way vamps are depicted on True Blood makes it appear that they go faster than that and I think we're talking around 160-180mph for Nascar.

It's not like Bill just suddenly called these guys in and they immediately fired on a stunned Queen... If I'm remembering the scene right she comments about 'oh, you brought humans into this?" or something. So it's not like it was a complete surprise and then BANG they all shot her.

In order to go splat she'd have to be hit in the heart right? they were all laser-sighted on her heart. Maybe someone who is bored could do the calculations on if a bullet from a high-powered assault rifle traveling at x speed could hit a target the size of a human fist which began to move at several hundred miles per hour before the shot is fired.

It's also possible she had given up. Trapped in a marriage with a psycho, watching the Magistrate be killed, having your "insider/spy" betray you, she wasn't in her "right mind."

Another thing, people are assuming that all of the humans aimed at her heart. It's reasonable to assume that at least a few of them aimed slightly to the left or right, so if she moved, they were still covered.
