From Zap2It -
Bill tries to earn Sookie's trust; Eric tempts Russell; Sam embraces his dark side; Hoyt and Jessica take their romance to the next level; Arlene puts her future in the hands of a goddess; Lafayette struggles with new demons.
There is no NEW episode next week. As is the pattern for HBO with this series, they will be re-running the last three episodes in a mini-marathon over Labor Day weekend, coming back two weeks from tonight with the season finale.

Alrighty then ... This one threw me for a loop. Everybody knows about Sookie being part Fae now.

Something is up with Sam. I don't know what it is, but I think it had something to do with those three ... things ... in his house. There was a close-up of it, really quick, while he was going wacko.

Poor Tara. Her mother's coming back next episode.

We all know Eric isn't going anywhere. I do wonder, though, if whatever is happening to him now is going to lead directly into the, um, events of book/season four?

Jason gave me fits of laughter. Ok, so his "replacement" is on V. He somehow has room to talk?

The panther's out of the bag in a big way now!

This episode sure didn't have that dragging/stretching feeling like last week. All the plots are moving forward, and we're in for something explosive!

Oh, and poor Tommy. He's finally in a good place, and Sam throws him out? wtf? And what did he do to Sam's car? Was that the brake line he cut?

@Omaha
Tommy was in Sam's office breaking into the safe not playing with Sam's car brakes. The three light thing near Sam's bed was an alarm to let Sam know if someone was breaking into he safe. Tommy played with the wires so the alarm would not go off. this is the second time this season Tommy was trying to rob the safe.

Well, we already know that the older a vampire is, the quicker they go when exposed to sunlight. Godric went up like that <snap>, so I imagine that's what's going to save Eric.

And yeah, Jason does have room to talk. Sure, he made the mistake later, but he didn't exploit it like whatever-stupid-name-the-jock-has. If what he said is true, it's also a much bigger problem than just stupid-jock-name-guy, too.

I'm also guessing mages are going to be the new 'critters' for the next season.

This was a very good episode. Lots of movement on all fronts.

Did everyone catch the "In Memoriam" segment before the episode ran? The caption "Vikings" had me laughing hysterically for some reason.

Three fangs. Was kind of "meh" for the most part. I do think Tara and Sam should get together on a more permanent basis. Did I envy Sam -- he got to screw Tara again, like I wish I could! She is fine! She also has those kinda crazy dark eyes that are so expressive.

I cant believe Russel would trust Eric a second time, duh.

also, geez Sam. :( Im really hoping that there's something else going on with him other than "he was always an asshole". And I dont know how in hell that bar is gonna stay in business now.

With half a dozen dead people in and around the bar it's a miracle to still be open ;)

I don't like how they practically "assassinated" Sam's character now. Everybody has their low point now and then but cold bloodedly murdering two people is just too much for a characters who's been a very good guy for 3 seasons now. I hope it's only temporary and Sam isn't locked in asshole mode for a long time.

Tara now knows the whole truth after Bud confessed to her and she seemed at peace after it when she talked to Sam.. i don't know what to make of it. Is this the first step to her healing or is it the calm before the storm when she gets revenge over Jason and Bud. Anyway it's a small miracle she appears to be mentally stable at all given what she went through this season.

I think Eric has found the one true weakness of all vampires.. being able to see and feel the sun once more is a desire apparently shared by all vampires, especially the old ones. For that experience all rivalries and enmities are put on hold (for the moment at least) but who'll bet a cent that Russel wouldn't annihilate everybody but Sookie in that bar if Eric would have been so dumb to trust Russel to let everybody go if they handed over Sookie permanently as Russel's personal sunscreen provider?

Overall i don't know what to make of the season.. it broadened our view on vampire society but then most of the season was about vampire politics and their inner fight with the occasional interesting side story.

Season 1 and 2 were better in a way because we had more mystery the season over which is more intriguing to me at least. Plus i loved to hate the Sun Church wackos, Godric was awesome to no end (and his death made me choke up.. especially Eric's pleading).
However season 3 is still top notch entertainment.. True Blood is still one unique vampire show and others can't hold a candle to it.

His name was Andy, not Bud. Bud was the previous sheriff. Great episode! I figured Alcide and the werewolves would play a bigger part this season but I guess that was not the case. Debbie and the others were just lackeys.

And yeah, Jason does have room to talk. Sure, he made the mistake later, but he didn't exploit it like whatever-stupid-name-the-jock-has. If what he said is true, it's also a much bigger problem than just stupid-jock-name-guy, too.

That would be the aptly named 'Kitsch.'

Wow, Sam sure is a prick.

I wouldn't call it character assassination, though. We knew he was a thief when he was younger. It makes sense that he got better at it over time--and all his money had to come from somewhere. Shooting the one girl was an accident. Killing her boyfriend in cold blood was definitely fucked up, but under the circumstances I don't think it's out of character. Nearly killing Crystal's father brought back memories of what he's like when he's enraged, and so here he is, getting wasted and being an asshole to everyone. It all adds up for me.

I've only seen up to the season two finale, but Sam's character was the one decent high-point in the show for me. Making him an asshole kinda kills the entire experience.

Man, you can always count on Jason to do the wrong thing. Jason finds out his (sorta) girlfriend is a were-panther and supposed to marry her half-brother so he decides to run off and harass some dumb high school jock? Then he gets talked into interfering with the meth bust to help save the guy who's probably going to try to kill him later. This whole season has just felt really random like that.

Eric tricking Russel was great. Even when the show falters it still manages great endings. Plus it reminded me of the Eels. I can't believe I forgot about such a great band.
