Here we go. It's all been leading to this. Tonight is the first season finale for True Blood. Are we all ready? I hope so!

From Zap2It:

"Sookie finds a link to the string of killings in Bon Temps; Tara wants to make the most of her second chance; Jason finds a new calling; Bill tempts fate; Sam is upset by an encounter with an old acquaintance."

Oh I can't wait! I've seen enough clips to think this one is gonna be one wild hour! :techman:

Oh yes, there's a doosy of a cliffy...if you've read the books, it's what begins book 2. If not, just watch! :techman:

Hmm...killer wasn't who I thought. I was thinking last week's clue was a mislead...but it wasn't. (I was thinking it was the too nice momma's boy)

Lafayette. We are meant to think Bill ate him. Please.

Mary Anne's mute manservant pushed CREEP buttons. Come on, Tara, trust your instinct!

Jason continues to be a dumbass.

Sam needs some Hulk spandex purple pants so he won't wake up nekkid.

Fun show. Summer seems so far away.

Trippy, skip past this post til you've seen the episode unless you wanna get spoiled all to hell.

Ok now I can talk about this a little bit. Rene was the killer in the book. We readers have known all along who it was, and I've loved the little clues they've planted all along. One difference is that in the book, Rene was Arlene's ex, her third husband and they were already divorced, but still friends. Here, a bit different. And holy shit ... the WAY he died like that ... In a way, like Tina's revenge.

In the books, LaFayette dies very early on in the second book. In the first book, he's got little more than a cameo and a name drop, so there's barely any character there. They fleshed him out into his own true character in the series. Alan Ball and others had said that they liked the character so much they were going to keep him around, maybe not kill him off at all.

And then we see the ending of this episode. This is exactly how it is in the second book - they find his body in Andy's car. Bill is not the killer.

But then, they've been cherry-picking here lately, taking parts they like and leaving out parts they don't, to create their own vision of how the series will be told.

It's a shame they killed off Rene, cuz the actor was mighty fine to look at. It was so weird to hear his real voice coming out at the end, too. Dangit.

We also get flashbacks of the murders .. but real flashbacks, filmed for this episode, not clips of previous episodes. They could have gone cheap there, they didn't. I think Maudette's made more appearances since she died than she did before. lol

Jason, Jason, Jason. Joining the Fellowship of the Sun. This will not go well.

Looks like Andy is getting on Bud's last nerve. And after almost no references to the history of Andy's family, he drops the "this used to all be part of my family's land" card. This was sort of dropped I guess, but in the books, we find out that they're Bill's grandkids ... well, great-great-etc-grandkids. He has a substantial amount of money, and leaves it to the Bellefleurs anonymously. We've yet to see Andy's sister on-screen, much less their old mansion. lol

And now we have to wait til next Summer for more. Man that's gonna be a long ass wait. But it's so worth it. I love this show. I have a feeling that going in to the next season, they're going to change it up enough that even those who know the books will be surprised.

It's kind of nice to hear a reassuring "Don't worry. We're already in production. We'll be back next summer". So many shows these days have come to untimely ends.

I just finished the episode, and all I'll add to the upthread reveiw is...

Crispy!Bill! Holy crap!

You know, I guess he was sugar coating for Sookie earlier about what the sun would do to him...he sure didn't last long!

And naked grave digging by Sam LOL! Only on this show...

I though it was a very good season finale. As omahastar said, they changed a lot from the books, i think is great, because the all the show will be spoiled. The maryann character is the eniad in the second book?

Yep, that's her.

The dead body is Miss Jeanette, killed by the Local Witch Doctors 14 because she didn't run a union shop. :p

On the "Which True Blood Character Are You?" quiz I got Tara.

To view my results, I had to register for Buddy.TV, which may or may not be some transgendered dating site.

I'll have to add that this show has been surprisingly good and to think I almost passed up on watching this. Anyway I liked the way they resolved certain plotlines while pointing the direction for new ones. Anyone think that werewolves may make an appearance next year? Being that many HBO shows fall victim to the sophmore jinx, I hope this one gets to finish its fascinating stories.

*smirk* Well if they do follow the main plots for book 2, yep. They'll be around, in one form or another. Just keep in mind, Weres are not the only shifters. They're not the only weres, either. Yes, there is a difference. To them, a huge difference.

Were (capitalized) - Werewolves, and only Werewolves. were- - others who shift into others. were-panther, were-dog, were-tiger, etc. There are also shifters, like Sam. shifters can shift into the form of any animal, and are not restricted to moon patterns, or specific animals. They are basically right under the Weres in the chain of command..

thats weird, you'd think since they can shift into anything, they would be higher up. So is Sam a were-dog then? Because we've only seen him as a dog. Or has he been other things? Well I don't know if this spoils anything, but I am assuming Michelle Forbe's character is one of the above.

"I wanna do bad things with you..."

Sam is not a were. He's a shifter. Shifters can shift into any animal they want ... The True Blood Sam even talked about being a bird. He chooses to be that dog because it's easiest for him. But the second he stops concentrating, he shifts back to his human form, same with any other shifter. Weres and weres are different. Not as much thought goes into it for them.

Mary Anne (Michelle's character) isn't a shifter. She's ... something else entirely.

HBO needs to not have cliffhangers for their season finales. There's always like, a year and a half to two years in between seasons. How long's it been since Big Love's been on? What happened on the season finale? I can't remember! Showtime is way more on top of their game than HBO.

i dunno....Entourage's season ended on a high note....with no actual cliffhanger. Vinnie Chase getting a lead part in a Scorcese film. Although didn't seem like that much happened in the season itself. Although you're right about showtime, im sure Dexter's finale will be giftwrapped with a nice bow.

like a werewolf?

The first time, I thought maybe you just misread what I said, since it's very clear. This time, I can only guess that you're doing this deliberately. Not sure what reason you have for doing it, though, as it's pretty silly.
