Trouble With Tribbles

I know this might of been done before, but its been awhile since its been here. What do you think of the episode Trouble with Tribbles? I actually love everybit of the episode. I say it has been the most funnest episode of all them. I love how Uhura brings a one tribble on the Enterprise, and later the ends up beeing tons and tons of them. I also love the fight scene on space station, which is great too. So what do you think of it?

This is my second-favorite Star Trek episode, EVER (the ultimate favorite, of course, is City On the Edge of Forever). I have whole scenes memorized, and it really was criminal how some TV stations butchered this episode just for the sake of cramming in more commercials. The rest of my local Star Trek club had no idea what I was talking about when I'd quote the "Scotch? It was invented by a little old lady from Leningrad!" bit, because they had never seen the unbutchered version.

Definitely in my top three of TOS. I'd put "The Conscience of the King" and "Amok Time" in the number one and two places.

My favorite part has always been when Spock says "Fortunately, of course, I am... immune... to... its...effect..."

Same here, but sub in The Doomsday Machine for The Conscience of the King.

I am partial to that scene as well. ;) Spock, you're fooling no one, you big softy!

had to rush to youtube to rewatch. I sometimes forget how much fun that epi was and how young the big three were. good times. ;)

This has always been my favorite episode. It would have been my first Trek episode on home video (LaserDisc, actually), but the dealer was sold out and I got "I, Mudd" instead.

Of all the comedic episodes of ST we've gotten over the decades this one, IMO, is the funniest. The Nog/O'Brien b-story from DSN's Treachery, Faith, and The Great River comes in a very close second for me.

This remains my favorite Trek episode ever. Period.

My favorite scenes both involve Kirk. The one where he's standing under the hatch being inundated with tribbles is a favorite, of course. The expression on his face is priceless. But even better is the expression on his face when Scotty confesses that he didn't start a fight no matter how much the Klingons insulted Kirk, but had to when they insulted the Enterprise. That just makes me :guffaw:

Not my most favorite. That's "Mirror, Mirror", but it's definately in my top ten.

Personally, I just think its great; all the new fans discovering the original Star Trek.

Oh and yep, just to keep it on topic, TTWT is a great, fun romp.

Welcome!

Not only is it a classic episode, but it works on so many comedic levels: slapstick, subtle humor ("I take this mission very seriously; it is you I take lightly"), and poking fun of the characters in the proper context. And let's face it, even non Trek fans know what a tribble is. This shows exactly what Trek could accomplish, not only dramatically, but in a lighter vein as well.

I really like this episode, but as I've gotten older, I've come to the conclusion that Kirk really does come across as kind of a dick to Nilz Baris. Baris started it, of course. Good comedy writing without going over-the-top. This could have been Star Trek's "jump the shark" episode, but they were careful to keep everyone in character.

I HATE growing older and having to re-evaluate things through my bi-focal lens of age! The same thought that Kirk seemed a little defensive from the get-go has occurred to me once or twice, too.

Sometimes you just sense someone's an asshole, and you treat them accordingly from the get-go. :)
