Tropes vs. Women in Video Games

Ultimately, playing video games are about power fantasy.

Personally, I just like jumping on things. Or over things. I'm cool either way. I never bought into the whole "living vicariously through your avatar" thing. I'm just playing with a toy and pressing some buttons. I never feel powerful when playing a game. Maybe that's why I never got into FPSs or RPGs.

Anyway, I think women probably fall into that category too. They're less interested in chainsawing a hundred people in a minute (although that will always be cool) and more into exploration and cooperative styles of gaming. For example, Minecraft, World of WarCraft, or Zelda. Getting women interested in video games would be a fantastic way to expand the industry and that would be awesome. You should never let a form of entertainment because too insular and aimed only at the hardcore fans.
