Troi describing chocolate

MikeS

The scene is so clear in my head. Troi is in Ten Forward eating a chocolate sundae and is describing the sensual textures and flavours. What episode is this please? :rommie:

Except of course, the replicated ones. Didn't she once have a discussion with the replicator on what merits a 'real' chocolate sundae?

A memorable scene indeed. Riker should have ended that conversation with "I'll be in the holodeck if you need me. Knock first"

There was a reason the scene stuck in my head all these years

Thanks everyone.

Well in another Wesley saves the day episode is it any wonder Troi getting off with food is more memorable?

I think there was another one where she talked almost erotically about chocolate, too.

As a chocolate lover, well, dark chocolate, I can not blame her.

The way she looked up and smiled after describing it, she looked like a naughty whore that had just received a facial.

Just being honest.

Wasn't the replicator basically telling her to go on a diet :P

I thought she was telling whoever she was with that she wanted real chocolate, not the replicated, nutritionally correct chocolate it produced.

I'm just going to be a pain in the ass here and say the whole chocolate thing irritated me. It just seemed like a silly cliche, women and their orgasmic chocolate. It wasn't helped by the usual television deal where no one actually finishes, or in the case of Troi eating chocolate ice cream on Voyager, even tastes it. Because something always happens and they have to abandon it and run off to the next scene.

But then I'm not a fan of chocolate myself so I may just be weary of all the chocolate fawning.

^I agree. It is a bit of a cliche.

I kind of think that listening to Troi describe chocolate is like listening to someone describe mashed potatoes. It sort of needs no explanation.

Computer: "Define real in context, please."
Troi: "Real. Not one of your perfectly synthesized, ingeniously enhanced imitations."

The computer then seemed to say that Deanna could have a actual chocolate sundae if she would first provide a override to the replicators programming.

:)

In VOY it was particularly annoying because I'm pretty sure they gave her chocolate in all of her appearances, as if it was some important character trait that was absolutely essential to understanding the episode.

Well, it's Troi describing choclate to Riker. He's enjoying watching her entertaining herself. So, I always saw it as a bit of a substitute for sex. Or foreplay. :guffaw:
