Trials and Tribble-ations End Credits

Ronald D. Moore has commented on "Trials and Tribble-ations: "Rene and I also had this idea to redo the entire end title sequence as an homage to the original series, with freeze frame shots from various DS9 episodes in the background, the TOS end credit music and changing the font of our credits to match theirs. That idea never got very far chiefly because we were the only proponents of it and also because the show was so far over budget that we couldn't afford to spend any more money anyway."

The basic concept is great, but I would have chosen different slides in some of the cases, especially the last one. Lwaxana at the end would have been better than Quark.

Thanks for sharing!

Is it possible for Heroes and icons to add those credits? Shouldn't cost them, right?

Today, anybody can slap something like this together in five minutes. I shudder to think that it would have been too time-consuming and cost-prohibitive back in the days of linear video editing. How far we've come since then.

That would have certainly been a nice cap to the episode, if they had been able to do it!

And the video was good, but they should have stuck with stills from episodes only up till "Trials and Tribble-ations".

For the final shot, I probably would have been tempted to go with this one from the episode itself. :)

I think they should've stuck only with stills up to Season 5. Sure include a few from episodes just after TAT, but that second last clip came from Season 7, so it wouldn't have been around in 1996!

Yep. I'm in anime fandom as well, and I see the slight editing of opeing/end credits a lot more often these days than fifteen years ago.

Hell, even with the reduced budget ENT had towards the end, even they could afford new credits AND music for their Mirror Universe episodes.

Great work. That last image choice was bloody brilliant.

Cool!! I'd never heard about this alternate ending. It could be great if we have a ...some special edition in the future of this episode (yeah, I still dream about the BRD). I love when Trek gives some "nerdy fan service", if you can say so.

It is however a bit easier to get a change in credits by the bean counters if you aren't over budget to begin with. And lets not forgot DSN like TNG had several subtle changes in it's opening credits over the years.

Not really. With TNG, the most serious changes were the pre-title visuals changing in season 3 along with a new arrangement of the theme. Other than that there were changes over the course of the series to remove actors as they left the show, or how the character names are printed, for example season 7 changes Jonathan Frakes's credit from "Commander William Riker" to "Commander William T Riker." And then there was season 5 made slight adjustment to the logo, which was reverted in season 6.

The only changes to DS9's credits were in season 4 which had a completely redone sequence, and season 7 which removed Terry Farrell, added Nicole DeBoer, and mentioned Kira's promotion.

By my count...

1. Emissary had no wormhole at the end of the credits.
2. Past Prologue to The Adversary was the same as Emissary but with added wormhole.
3. Way of the Warrior added two runabouts to the pan to the station, added Dorn's credit (and moved Alexander Siddig's credit to its new place), updated the shots of the station and added the Defiant. Also updated the theme and the look of the credit typeface and gave sisko and Dax their promotions.
4. Season 7 drops Terry, adds Nicole, (subtly) changes the credit style again, promotes Kira.
