I've been doing Crossfit-esque Workouts for nearly a year now and I'm seeing far better gains in a fraction of the time of my old structured fitness routines.
My intro post in my signature gives a little more of my background (I'm transitioning from the US Navy to either the US Army or Florida Army National Guard) and I've always been one to mind my physical condition.
What's interesting is some of the workouts I've come up with have been named for Star Trek locations, species and places. For instance my planned workout for tommorrow is named Species 6339 after the ship that nearly demolished Voyager. I've also made up another one called the Akritar Prison Satellite (I'll post the specs once I grab my training journal) and another called Hirogen Alpha.
Here's the Hirogen Alpha workout: Take a deck of cards, assign an excercise for the face value of said card, and then do the face value of that excercise. Aces are a face value of eleven.
Spades = L-pullups
Clubs = Burpees (A mix of pliometric, pushup, jumping exercise)
Hearts = Inclined situp with 35 lbs plate held on chest
Diamonds = Flutter kicks with 35 lbs plate held over chest
That particular workout took me fifty-four minutes to complete and I was barely able to do my twenty minutes of biking on a stationary bike to cool down.
Are there any other CrossFitting Trekkies on this board. Maybe we could share workouts and even names for workouts...
