Amok Time.

A large addition to previous evidence that Vulcan's aren't just Humans with funny ears. Provided insight into Vulcan biology, customs, and marital traditions.

I so wanted to pick Trouble With Tribbles but hey, Mirror Mirror was there so I had to pick that.

By the way, @Hey Missy, when you get your top two or three episodes from each series, what about having an ultimate episode showdown? And you can only pick one episode :D

I was going to just make a chart of all 700+ episodes from each series, sorting them by the percentage of votes they received. I was inspired by a similar Doctor Who poll on another website.

Strange, I thought I'd voted for Journey To Babel as well but it's not come up and I'm not sure how to add my click!

Mirror, Mirror was a fantastic episode and Barbara Luna made me want to be Captain as well!

Let me think...if I examine your avatar, user name and signature, I should be able to figure out which episode you like best. Hmmmmm.......give me a few minutes.....

At a guess I'd say he liked The Invaders episodes Doomsday Minus One and the two part Summit Meeting, but I could be wrong...? :shifty:

Odd that I agree with so many about Doomsday Machine, but the other choice I was considering, The Changeling, got little response. I associate those two.

Doomsday Machine is truly exciting and well acted. Fantastic music and great updated FX. Sets are lit darker and it works magnificently.

Best season overall! Winners everywhere

I noticed most of the ep's being of a very similar high quality, so that ranking was hard or irrelevant, yet not one struck me as on the level of the best of s1.

I sometimes get confused and associate 'The Changeling' with ST:TMP. Oh, wait... It is the same story, more or less. Okay, mainly more.

I have mentally noted some interesting (to me at least) connections between the two (pardon me as I drift off to pure fan geekdom)...

1. TDM was filmed two weeks before The Changeling, but it aired three weeks after the latter. Thus the new sets that were first shot on TDM--Auxiliary Control and the revamped engineering section--were first seen by viewers in The Changeling. By the time TDM aired, viewers already associated these shipboard locations as being common to both ships. If TDM had aired first, viewers would have been given the impression that the Constellation had a differently configured engineering section from the Enterprise's--thus introducing the concept of differences between these supposed sisters.

2. TDM was the first episode to shoot on the Auxiliary Control set. I've always wondered if initially the set was conceived for that episode, or if it was conceived independently? If it had been built before the end of the first season, wouldn't have Khan taken over Auxiliary Control rather than engineering (just like Norman and the Eden hippies did)? Or perhaps it was conceived of earlier, but they simply did not have the budget to build it.

(Also, Auxiliary Control is referred to the Engineer's Bridge in the Blish novelization, supposedly culled from an early version of the script. Navy friends, is there such a thing as an Engineer's bridge on a naval vessel?)

3. It's interesting to me to see Kirk and company react when they were attacked by Nomad. I can imagine that Kirk, Spock, etc. would have been tossed around the bridge in a very similar manner if the Enterprise had been the first starship to come across the planet killer rather than the Constellation.

4. I've always disliked the green tunic Kirk wore in TDM. He looked far better in the standard lime/gold tunic he wore in The Changeling. That latter uniform would have suited him much better in TDM.

But then both Ship Captains would have been too much alike and Kirk had been wearing that green wraparound a lot lately at the time!

I wouldn't be surprised if they thought of it for this episode with an eye on reusing it to expand the ship a little. They probably wanted a room away from the bridhe so they wouldn't have to waste time beating up and then restoring the bridge set. Plus, I can see them wanting to keep Kirk and Scotty separate for dramatic purposes (and to give Shatner solo screen time).

Here, I have to disagree. I think Shatner looks smashing in this episode. The green wrap suits him very well at this point. It's the first use of this tunic this season in production order, so note the usual lack of black trim on the collar. By the time he gets to his least appearance in this tunic (The Immunity Syndrome in prod. order), it is indeed time to retire it. His weight is up to the point where it is no longer flattering.
