TrekBBS Babylon 5 Short Story competition

Right then, all you creative Babylon 5 fans, lets have a short story comp. For the month of September, come up with a small story written around one or two characters, or a whole flock if you wish.

The rules (not many, don't wanna restrict your creativity!):

- The story should be set within the timeline of the Babylon Project (2249 - 2281) although if you want to do a Minbari War story then so be it.
- You can also write about anything that we haven't seen a definitive resolution for, such as the Telepath war, or the Drahk Virus, etc.
- Keep it to maybe 6-12 pages in length.

I'll make a new thread on October 1st for posting, although if people are ready sooner, we can go sooner. If it takes off then we can maybe do a competition each month, with a theme (like minor characters, a certain time period, etc).

That's tempting (I'm in the middle of a B5 rewatch!) but I've never been able to put words in the mouths of pre-existing characters.

Then make it someone's brother.

Or G'Kar's cellmate on Centauri Prime.

Or an unknown ship trying to break into Vorlon space.

Doesn't have to be a main character.

That's tempting (I'm in the middle of a B5 rewatch!) but I've never been able to put words in the mouths of pre-existing characters.

So try Malcolm, Commander Sinclair's brother. As far as we know, Mal is still alive, what is his reaction to Jeff going to Minbar? And there's doubtless going to be a cover-up, giving the "official" story of where Jeff went. Does Mal ever find out what happened? If so, from whom?

Should give you something to work on.

If you like. I was tempted to do a script but I'm currently going through all the B5 short stories so I went with that format.

I'm really looking forward to this. I've already written eight pages and it's pretty much done. Just a few extra lines of dialogue to adjust and I'll be happy with it.

Although no doubt I'll edit it 600 times before October 1st.
