I think there is something to this; there will always be a 60s spirit to Trek and I think part of the problem with new trek is the way they've tried so hard to run from this; don't you think a little of this would be appropriate in the new movie?

Are all Trek fans ashamed of this aspect of the series? I think it's part of the package. A little 1960s style music and vibe and twirly lights.

For the effects that ILM will inject in the new movie; I hope for old times sake they leave in a few oil and food coloring overhead projector on the dance hall wall effects ala 1968.

Awesome!!! Spock in psychedelic rock mode. We reach.

Herbert.

As far as I'm concerned, the next movie should be as assiduous in recreating the 60s feel of real Trek as Grinhouse was in recreating the feel of 70s Z-grade movies. But then, it would probably do about as well as Grindhouse did... :(

As for this, missed opportunities abound: no space amoeba shots, no Fesarius as Disco ball, no Galactic barrier, just silly putt-putt car sounds? Also, the scene in Spock's quarters should have been edited down. Close, baby, but no spliff.

Mmmmmmmmm, spliff...

Yeah, but it was pretty good. Raw like the 60s.

Anyone recognize that space hippy from the Blues Brothers?

Pretty sure it's the leader of the Good Ole' Boys.

Hendrix would of been a better choice for the music for the video.

We reach, brotha !

And what about that clunky sounding computer voice (sorry Majel)? And the bright colors? And the MINISKIRTS? Okay, it's not all bad.

I hope there's a nod here and there, but I also hope ... that it's a little less colorful.
