Trek readers on Shelfari?

Over the weekend a friend introduced me to Shelfari, and I've been exploring it since: it's a social community for readers, and users can "add" books to virtual bookshelves, indicating how much they enjoy them, what they plan to read next, books they wished they owned, that kind of thing. For instance --

This is of my "shelves". I joined a group for Trek readers, but it appears to be mostly inhabited by casual fans of Star Trek who saw the movie and wanted to join.

Anyone reading Trek literature using this? If you're interested, it's fairly easy to use; adding information to books is an intuitive process.

I use Goodreads.com, a site with a similar idea, though I will say that the image you posted is a little nicer than Goodreads from an aesthetic standpoint.

One downside of LibraryThing is the 200 book limit if you're not willing to pay for it.

Is there a similar restriction for Shelfari?

Well, I have started an account.

I have limited the shelf to the English language books I have for now, since it seems like I would have to create entries for (most of) the German translations I have.

Haven't done much "fine-tuning" either, yet (ratings, favorites, tags etc. )

I had no idea Eureka had a novel out until I saw your shelf there! Thanks for that!

I've started an account myself (not too many books up - it takes some time to enter them in), and it's really neat, looking at what other TrekBBS people are reading.

A TrekBBS group (like the Star Trek group already on the site) might be an idea; I know I'm always looking for a good read. :)

^Cool! I'll admit I've been rather busy lately and haven't kept up with the threads here as much.

I decided to start my own shelf. So far I have intentionally not put any Trek books on it, because I'm trying to remember all the non-trek ones first before those start to clutter things up.

^ Yeah I started with the non Trek books, too. Importing from LibraryThing was helpful with adding most of the older ones (hadn't updated LT in what seems like years because of the 200 book limit) thankfully. I still had to add them, but they at least showed me the right books.

I use GoodReads. They actaully have helpers who care about getting things right.

I tried Shelfrai and I was adding some Star Trek books and found some major errors that caused what I wanted to come out all wrong. After trying to inform them of the errors, I gave up trying after three weeks of nothing. POS to be honest. Stay as far away as you can from Shelfari.

LibraryThing charges after you have so many books in your account. GoodReads is the best one (IMHO).

When was this? Perhaps the kinks have been ironed out by now.

I changed some minor things (errors in titles, etc.) and they were approved within a day.

EDIT: Just reread what you wrote and guess that wasn't what you meant, Forget what I said.

Mostly I used LT because I discovered it first, but it also seems to be the most data-oriented of the various sites I've looked at. And I sure like data.
