Trek music on Top Gear

Well, they haven't wasted any time in grabbing the music from the new Trek movie for one of the challenges, have they?!

(And there's some Dark Knight music too, which they've used before)

I've seen the odd clip now and then, but I don't watch the show. I gather this grabbing of new film music is fairly typical for them? I'd have to assume that they're paying Paramount a licensing fee of some kind.

Oh, yeah, they do it all the time, it's all licenced - I was just surprised they had it so soon.

They do it a lot. I remember the DS9 "slow" music being used once, though that might've just been a James May space thing. They were pretty fond of the 24 soundtrack too.

I caught it too.

They played "Peril" from the Halo 2 soundtrack a couple of series ago as well. That had me all "oooo"ing and "aaaah"ing at the TV when it came up.

I mentioned this to the GF on Sunday. She's looking over my shoulder now and as soon as I saw the thread title I believe I said "I fucking told you!"

We see Top Gear here in the U.S. on "BBC America", but I don't think they show recent episodes -- probably only the episodes from past series (seasons). I wonder how long it will take for BBC America to show the most recent series.
