Trek interior design

What do you think of the interior design on Star Trek? What pieces of furniture from the series would you like to have?

One piece that I have is the Westinghouse Lumina series radio lamp. The base served as the data recorders/busy boxes/task monitors in TOS, and the lamp part was on a control panel and was a microphone.

Here's a picture of one (not mine):

On the set:

Vulpes, we don't allow hotlinked images unless they're from your own site. The best bet would be to copy them to Photobucket or a similar service. In the meantime, I've converted them to links for you. :)

There's a poster here (GShnitzer) that collects props for the fan-created Star Trek Phase Two series that has found all kinds of wonderful design items from the original series. Take a look at this thread for some really great props.

Fans who grew up in the post-TOS era may think of the original show’s sets and props as “cheesy.” I prefer to call them “minimalist.

In fact, I always wanted a bedroom decked out to look like Captain Kirk’s quarters.

Does anyone know what that silvery thing sitting on the cabinet is? It looks like a model of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center in downtown L.A.

And I actually had a chair like this:

I wouldn't mind one of the padded chairs from TOS. They're so 60's.

Or the IDIC mosaic on the wall of Spock's quarters in TWOK/TSFS.

Or the meeting room table in TNG. It was supposedly made of real oak and marble.

A lot of the seats in more recent Trek are Corbeau racing seats, mostly GTS II, like the captain's chair on the Defiant. But the tall pilot's seat on the NX shuttlepod is another model made by Corbeau. They cost about $350 in cloth but are also available in leather. One fan who is trying to build a Defiant bridge set got an old GTS II from a junk yard recently to use as the captain's chair.

I wonder if all these things are worth more because they were used on Trek? Well, of course they are, but how much more?

While I like how the interior design looks in Star Trek (being a Science Fiction show) I think having any of it in my flat would be absolutely hideous.

I heard somebody had the original Enterprise captain's chair in his living room until they brought it back to the studio. I think I would be completely embarrassed if anybody saw me having that.

I’d like to have an Agony Booth like the one in “Mirror, Mirror” to, uh, entertain certain guests.
