Trek Inspired Game Design Mock-Up

If I ever sit down to make a game, it's more than likely going to be some kind of Adventure/RPG hybrid and probably for the first effort is going to involve some iteration of RPG Maker. So I did a mock-up because there's a game jam coming that interested me. This is double the size of the actual sprites on the sheet, but it represents how the game would actually show this on screen.

The actual game jam that prompted this is posted here: itch.io/jam/star-trek-jam

I decided to pull out some sprites I'd started years ago when the idea of making an RPG first popped in my head and I built a few 'corridor' sets around that sprite. So what we've got is a Motion Picture corridor, a Next Generation corridor, a Next Gen corridor colored like the Defiant (apparently they were forbidden Purple in the sets on Next Gen cause the Original Series had it everywhere) and finally a 2D version of the corridor set I've been using for my own web comic series. Well, I will be using anyway. It's like a modified version of Voyager's corridors.

Yes this is a profile view instead of the more typical faux overhead view or the isometric view that Baldur's Gate used, but this is something I thought I could churn out pretty quickly and surprisingly building a map this way is actually a bit more complex than you'd think. I've been toying with the bridge and a few others but they're nowhere near ready to show off.

This felt good to flex my sprite building muscles again. I forgot how therapeutic it can be to draw in Paint.
