Trek in Pop Culture

If we were to go by the death-o-meter (I am calling it this), you were more likely to be killed on an away mission with Kirk, and you would be more likely to be killed on board the ship with Picard. (I actually ran the numbers for Picard... I was surprised to find nearly all the deaths of the crew were aboard the Enterprise.)

Until season 3, Archer was the safest captain because he lost no one until they went into the Delphic Expanse.

Ironically, Sisko was the safest overall with his crew, even with a war on. (Yet another reason why he's my favorite.)

And Janeway... not very safe. Particularly if you were a Maquis in the first couple seasons.

Beastie Boys lyrics.
You then have the ouroborous nature due to them also being referenced in Star Trek.

Reverse game - best pop culture references in Star Trek?

Obviously
Rick and Morty in Picard
comes straight to mind

ROBOT CHOCKEN has used STAR TREK shows in their bits many times. My favorite of them (and one if my favorite in the entire show) is STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN... THE OPERA.

That is 7 kinds of awesome.

It's a bold move doing that in front of Maltz and with Data waiting in the wings.

The storyline in Mad Men with Paul Kinsey wanting to sell his Star Trek spec script that was rich with social commentary.

1980s artist Nena and the song 99 Red Balloons

99 knights of the air
Ride super-high-tech jet fighters
Everyone's a super hero
Everyone's a Captain Kirk
With orders to identify
To clarify and classify
Scramble in the summer sky
As 99 red balloons go by

Space may be the final frontier, but it's made in a Hollywood basement
And Cobain, can you hear the spheres, singing songs off station to station?
And Alderaan's not far away
It's Californication

Both Trek and Wars n Californication also
