Trek film "will be Abrams' life"

A strange little quote, attributed to a studio source, in an article about ABC's programming challenges here:

http://www.slate.com/id/2174294/

The Trek movie "is going to become Abrams' life" until its release.

Hopefully this doesn't mean he'll be moving back into his Mom's basement for the duration.

Yeah, then you'd never get any alone time with her! ;)

To actually address the article for a moment, I think this is promising news. Someone who wants to pour himself into Trek wholeheartedly, who is eager and earnest, sounds like a good thing to me. If his vision is compatible with the Trekiverse, he could well make the film that revitalizes our beloved franchise. I just hope he finds the right balance of commercialism and traditionalism... I don't want Trek rendered unrecognizable...

So far I haven't read one item that has turned me off of this project in the slightest. Everything has been very positive, IMO.

^ As long as you take 'Internet Rumors' with a salt mine from Utah there's nothing to worry about, eh ? ;)

* A referance to the Great Salt Lake of course *

^ Yes. Telling ABC he doesn't have time to work on one of their projects is different that immersing yourself in the movie. I hope he does. But what a publicist says should be discounted by a couple of orders of magnitude.

It's a shame, too; I liked the way it was phrased. I like the idea that Abrams' every waking hour will be consumed by Star Trek, as if its monumental challenges will leave him a smoldering wreck of a man. "What happened to J.J. Abrams?", they'll ask. "Oh, he had to be carried away to a Buddhist monastery in Thailand to recuperate, " will come the answer. "The strain of deciding the the color of the Enterprise's bridge railing just sort of left him broken inside." Yes, this idea pleases me.

How hard can it be? The railing is [color:red]RED[/color]. How many shades of red are there?

this is the same trek fan-base we're talking about here, right?

if that railing is just one pantone shade of red off, there'll be hell to pay dammit

I'm operating from the (possibly mistaken) assumption that the bridge will look at least slightly different, and possibly very different...

The Trek movie "is going to become Abrams' life" until its release.

So, does this mean that if Trek XI goes down in flames after its release JJ will commit harakiri and I'll never have to be subject to any of his moronic TV series again? :D

Nah, I guess that's too much to hope for...

I'm not buying this article one bit. Too many convenient "anonymous sources" IMO. Sounds like made-up fan BS to me.

While I wish nothing but good things for the next Trek, I will admit that seeing LOST peter out and disappear without ever answering any of its mysteries would give me a great sense of smug satisfaction...
