"Trek dream is still alive"

Good news from the International Express!

On closer inspection, of course, this has nothing to do with Star Trek. But I'll bet I'm not the only one here who did a double-take in the checkout line. Trek tends to inspire melodrama in those writing about it (how many people have waxed eloquent on "Gene Roddenberry's vision"?), so it was easy to believe this was related. Annoying choice of headline, Brits.

I had some Trek dreams when I was a kid, and it's probably for the best that they're not still alive. Most of them were about the Borg...

Whenever I see the word “trek” in print, my instinctive reaction is that it must have something to do with Star Trek. Is this a common phenomenon of the last 40 years or so, or is it limited to geeks?

Most of mine were about Susan Oliver and Yvonne Craig.

I was too distracted wondering how on earth Downton Abbey could possibly be mistaken for an award worthy drama.

Same here, I watched an hour or two before giving up. It was just a retread of Upstairs, Downstairs and Gosford Park. Much in the same way ENT was a retread of VOY! See how I worked in a Trek theme anyway? :p

First thing I saw after reading Still Alive in the title, I thought "This was a triumph." :o

Ultimately I think VOY fans should be grateful their Year of Hell only lasted a couple of episodes, given that following it through methodically, arguably cost ENT fans dear. After that touch and go, there was another season at all as a result.

Funny how sometimes, you ought to be careful what you wish for.

There again, had there only been five years of VOY... maybe more ENT would've got made and I'd been a lot happier.
