After watching Shatner's 'Captains' Documentary I wondered why they never tried to get all the Captains together for one movie or TV movie. Ok the cast is older than before but I still think it would have been cool if they had tried that with the proposed Star Trek IX.

If the Shat can get these people together for a Doc why not get them together for an Anniversary special.

Of course they'd have to do it right. Not the Captains making breakfast together but having their ships locked in battle before all going off to fight the Borg etc.

nah... couldn't see it and wouldn't particularly enjoy it to be honest...

there would have to be a phenomenally mind blowing script written to get all 5 captains together and make it believable... even ignoring the fact it would be stretching over god knows how many years of timeline, so time travel would have to be involved obviously, and then we have the problem of the current alternate timeline of movies, leading the future 3 captains from the alternate future to actually need explanations for why they have changed, or how they managed to cross into the alternate timeline for this movie...

Nah, even with a phenomenal script, it would just come across as a fan-wank movie and i don't think it could be taken seriously as a production in it's own right...

I am a yes, but with proviso's - a time travel 'all working together' thing would just be horribly fannish and, er, crap.

There's a real desire amongst a lot of fans to see what happened after TNG, DS9 and Voyager.

I'd like to see a several episode miniseries rather than a film as there would be more scope - each crew would be seen in their own time frame.

I'd suggest starting with Enterprise as a 'teaser' - finding something that would come back to haunt the Federation in the 24th century. Fast forward to THG / DS9 / Voyager era and the 'something' has popped up again requiring a response that involves cast and crew from the various 24th century shows.

At some point (or several points) it becomes clear that Kirk and co were involved too and sealed records show the original crews input. I'd like 2 flashbacks - one to TOS and one to the movie era. Obviously these pieces would need to use old footage but they would be limited in scope and with the use of CGI and some new dialogue from the surviving cast it would be possible to see Kirks crew in their prime(s).

Yes, I know it's still awfully fannish but it would tie everything together nicely ! Of course it won't happen...

According to Brent Spiner, they nearly did this. The planned sequel to Nemesis was to have been "The Justice League of Trek", bringing together all the captains and crews against a similar band of villains. Time travel would have been used, including plucking Data off the Scimitar a second before it's destruction.

Somehow I doubt they would have done the concept justice.

I don't think you could have a good enough story to justify it, because it's Trek you would have to have Kirk being even more heroic than the rest of them or risk a boycott and which Kirk would you use, or both? You would also have to come up with a plot that justified having at least three ships, probably five ships in it with equal amounts of screen-time. And I don't want to see more of Janeway or Archer, I didn't like either much, Archer was an idiot and Janeway was a self-righteous shrew. No, bad idea. Multi-Doctor episodes of Doctor Who never live up to expectation, why do that to Trek?

Dear god no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously picard and sisqo are the only good combo's on screen and that's only because their so opposite.

No. We've already had a "Picard meets Kirk" shoehorned on us, and the script for that was as horrible as one would expect it to be; try to bring all 5 together and the script would be 4.723* times worse.

Why not? At least it is a fun idea. It's something that might have worked in the early/mid '90s.

In the '80s, there was a mini-series called "Chiefs" about three generations of police chiefs for a southern town that go after the same serial murderer.

I could see a mini-series in which a powerful villain (maybe a Q or similar) could go up against Archer and crew in episode 1 - narrowly escapes, then Kirk and crew in episode 2 - narrowly escapes and finally gets subdued after tangling with Picard's Enterprise, Janeway's Voyager and Sisko's DS9 (separately or in some combination.)

I don't see it working as a gimmicky time travel story, but a story about an adversary that is long-lived and can move from Alpha - to - Delta - to Gamma Quadrants over a few centuries is well within the bounds of the ST universe.

You would also have to come up with a plot that justified having at least three ships, probably five ships in it with equal amounts of screen-time.

Nope - per my proposal : 1st episode, expended cameo from Archer and crew, remainder of miniseries a cross show cast featuring whoever is available, not necessarily on separate ships with a couple of cameo's in flashback to the TOS and movie eras. Could still have all the captains making an appearance, plus a bunch of other supporting characters.

That was the bring back kirk crowd that had a campaign to bring back the original Kirk since he is seen as a hero the likes of Superman etc who can come back from the dead and is so much a part of the Star Trek legend. Actually I quite liked that trailer when I first watched it.

They got Kirk back, but not Shatner. I wonder if they're happy now?
I doubt it. I remember when there was talk of Mirror Kirk showing up on 'Star trek: Enterprise' they were against the idea since it wasn't "our" Kirk. I think only Kirk Prime will do.
