transphasic torpedoes

topcat

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
In an episode of voyager they were attacked by a ship that had transphasic torpedoes. Kess had been injured by fragments of the device. Somehow even after realignment with the correct phase before detonation, the fragments still are slightly out of phase and she was starting to get out of phase.

The question is why was it such a massive revelation/development when future janeway gave the transphasic torpedoes from the future? If they could build regular photon torpedoes, warp cores, and the delta flyer you think they could have made their own.

The one that did the thingy with Kes was a chroniton torpedo, not transphasic.

It was one of the few episodes with Kes that made any sense...
If I remember that episode fully, the Voyager crew was going nuts because these torpedoes went through the shields because to quote Tuvok... "were out of sync or phase with the rest of the universe"
That has been extrapolated to mean "out of phase"

Maybe, but the torpedoes were still called chroniton torpedoes in that episode, not transphasic. The episode you mean is Before and After, where she goes backwards in time. The specific scene you speak of was set during what would later become The Year Of Hell.
