Gender is biological and innate. Gender expression and gender roles, on the other hand, are constructed..

There are many that disagree with that and find the notion of gender roles to be nothing more than the oppressive consequence of a socially constructed belief in innate gender.
And those people were proved wrong decades ago.
One irrevocably and inevitably influences the other. That might admittedly be a politically motivated assessment but it's one that has some intellectual weight if you ask me and one that definitely continues to interest me
While you are correct that no mind exists in a vacuum, and that most everything about our psychology is a combination of nature and nurture, there are some aspects which are more strongly affected by one than the other. RJ is right: the evidence shows that gender roles are primarily (though perhaps not entirely) social constructs, and that gender identity is innate. Gender identity is not the "consequence of a socially constructed belief in innate gender" any more than aerodynamics are a product of a socially constructed belief in physics. You can't pick and choose which science to believe just because it conflicts with your politics.

I've always felt that gender identity flows outward rather than inward. What then happens is we receive feedback from others, and that colors our perceptions of what we think we're supposed to feel, and that can cause confusion if we experience negative feedback. The confusion, however, is not over what we feel, but what we're told we have to feel, which of course ends up in causing mental and emotional stress. It's that same feeling when one is told their orientation is wrong, or immoral. Inside, it feels fine, everything feels natural, but the feedback from the social order causes conflict, which causes confusion.

TL;DR - People know how they feel, how they perceive the world, and what they desire. It's only when people stick their noses in other people's business that it results in the pain and frustration we see.
