I tagged spoilers here so if you haven't seen the show yet and don't want to know any big spoilers don't read this thread.

So has anyone been watching this G1 show on netflix? It's a trilogy with 6 episodes per season with the third season coming out in May. I know it's based on a toyline of the same name but not sure how it fits in to the franchise. It feels like a quasi prequel of sorts to the original animated series with the first season taking place on Cybertron and leading to Optimus and the autobots leaving on the Arc. The second season has Megatron and his decepticons in pursuit. Galvatron from the future shows up at one point and at the end of season 2 they crash land on earth where we see Dinobot from 'Beast Wars' discover the crashed ship.

My opinion of the show. It's slow and light on action. Characters are broody and talk.....very...slow-ly. It's doom and gloom most of the time. I like the animation, the designs are fine with me although I read complaints of "too blocky". The things I got excited over were Galvatron, Megatron's past background taken from the marvel comics. I'm curious to see where things will go with season 3. I have only started to watch 'Beast Wars' recently to get myself up to speed with the characters.

So I watched the third part of this trilogy, 'Kingdom'. I think it's better than the previous two parts but still suffers from slow talking characters which just seems to be a way to fill time. I thought it's cool that the generation 1 characters interact with the Beast Wars characters although it's clear now that this is not within continuity with the original G1 and Beast Wars series. It's more of an alternate timeline. The voice acting of Optimus Primal and Beast Wars Megatron is pretty disappointing too, mostly because they are not the original voice actors and in no way do they try to emulate their predecessors.

Yeah, I realize that the shows are many years apart, but some of the VA is very... wonky. Not because the VAs themselves are generally bad, but because their voices simply don't match up with the older versions. Optimus Prime and Starscream aren't too bad, IMO, as many actors have been able to at least channel some elements of Peter Cullen and Chris Latta respectively. But G1 Megatron is way too deep, IMO, and not like the distinctive voice Frank Welker used for him.

It was sort of funny that at one point G1 Megatron asked BW Megatron to use a different name.... :D

Netflix decided to go on the cheap and hire non union voice actors. Which is damn frustrating. They could have hired the original voice actors of both shows. Considering the Movie actor cast of the 'Masters of The Universe Revelations' which is loaded with talent I'm sure Netflix could have dropped a little more money on hiring voice actors.

Predacon Megatron said 'yesss' a couple times, and that made me smile.
I didn't notice it. I clearly remember David Kaye's "yessss" but the voice actor they chose for Megatron is awful, not to criticize the actor but it sounds absolutely nothing like BW Megatron.
