Transformers One

I love it. I'm a Generation 1 fan from the '80s, and I was grinning throughout the entire trailer. Looks like fun and a nice jumping-on point for people new to Transformers.

It's trying to be a Toy Story movie. I will stick with my previous iterations of Transformers. This is definitely not for me.

It's clearly a movie aimed at a much younger audience, and, hey, that's fine with me; let's not pretend the original G1 cartoon or its successors like Beast Wars existed for any reason other than To Sell Toys. I doubt I'll ever go out of my way to actually see this, but if it pops up on streaming and I'm very pleasantly high or something, I might turn it on and see what's what.

Did the name 'B-127' originate from the Bay films? Or was it from the original lore as well?

I'm almost positive it came from the Bumblebee movie from a few years ago.

This looks fun. Something my 7 year old son would love. Shouldn't that be the target audience? I loved Transformers when I was 7, why can't he? I've seen a lot of adults crying online today about how this is a kids movie. I think they've forgotten how old they were when they fell in love with Transformers.

I'll be 40 in July, and while I had a few of the toys when I was a kid, I was never an ultra-fanatic or anything like that. With the Bay films, there have been ones I really enjoy (like '07, Dark of the Moon and some of the absolute batshit insanity in The Last Knight), there has been stuff that's aggressively mediocre (it took three nights for my ex-wife and me to make it through Age of Extinction on Netflix), and then there's been stuff that's absolute dogshit (I am looking squarely at you, Revenge of the Fallen).

A friend of mine who's about ten years older than I am went on an insane screed on Facebook earlier today, crying about how having Chris Hemsworth voice Orion Pax / young Optimus Prime was an utter disgrace and insult to Peter Cullen. My brother in Christ, Peter Cullen will be fucking eighty-three years old in July.

'Transformers - The Movie' still looks great nearly 40 years later. This looks like a direct-to-video movie you'd find in a supermarket bargain bin back in the early 2000s.

Isn't this being animated by ILM? Meaning probably The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch animators. So the ton of money Lucas tossed at The Clone Wars is coming around for other films.

I believe that ILM is the lead effects studio on this, yes, but I think another company is handling the 3D conversion.

It looks cute. Definitely aimed at kids. I doubt it is something I would go to the theater for, but will catch it on streaming.
