Transformers 3:24-year-old female extra seriously injured

Sounds like a cable snapped and whipped back around and sliced her skull!

I hope she recovers!

Poor kid. :( I hope she'll be okay and move on to a successful career in movies.

Ummm... Autobot Spike?

Hope she pulls through. It's always a shame when accidents like this hurt movies that go to extra lengths to ensure safety precautions.

Any filmmaker should be... and I've heard his commentary tracks... his worries about even the minor things, from tiny scratches to a hurt ankle, seem to illicit comments of concern from him, just as James Cameron took extraordinary precautions on Titanic

^ Bay might but I doubt the studio are, better to save money. Is it common for extras in BIG BIG box office movies to be
paid minimum wage
? cheap gits. I can understand in TV but films, which make nearly a billion $$$.

I hope she pull throughs.

I worked Monday through Wednesday as one of about 80 extras with cars on Transformers 3. I was 2 or 3 cars behind the young woman who was injured. It was the last scene on the last day of filming in Indiana. Yes, we were paid minimum wage, $8.25 an hour plus $25 extra for use of our cars. We got 4 hours of overtime for each day. It was a tragic accident so please pray, chant, send good vibes or just wish the best for her. It could have happened to any of us. I know I'm still very shaken up about this. I can only imagine how the crew feels.

Will do :)

You do realize that those wages are negotiated by unions, right?

I work in industry (not the film industry but it's a potentially very dangerous place), and it doesn't benefit any company to skimp on safety because it will almost always come back to bite you in the ass. Spend $100k or get sued for millions if someone gets injured or killed, it's not much of a choice. Also, unions won't allow it (craft and actors), and there are safety inspectors on location I'd imagine.

And I've seen a few of Bay's commentaries, the guy is a safety Nazi and a control freak.

That's just horrible. The poor kid. :(

I hope the studio is Human enough to make sure she's taken care of, at fault or not.
