Trade Publication Ad putting Shatner back in as Kirk

DumbDumb2007

Commander
Who would be able to afford a centerfold ad in a trade publication advertising that William Shatner should return in a main role as James T. Kirk.
What are the main publications in Hollywood ? Variety ? LA Times ?
Can the Trekkie Fan Club Organisations afford such a thing ?

I am confused about what this thread is about, DumbDumb2007.

Are you advocating fans taking out such an ad? Are you trying to gauge potential support here? Or are you saying there already IS one and you wonder who took it out?

I read somewhere that an ad had ben taken out..
I was in California last week . I heard it in the lobby of the Hotel I was staying at in Los Angeles. I was there just 2 days.

I honestly don't get the fascination with getting Shatner back. Yes, he was the original Kirk, but really, what role would they have to give to a dead character?

I would contribute to an ad urging Shatner to devote himself entirely to "Boston Legal" - and seriously, other than a little hurt vanity, why would he be tempted to do otherwise? Critical acclaim, much more interesting character work than Kirk afforded him in the last ten years of his participation, and no doubt more comfortable working conditions and hours.

Gods bless his pea-picking little heart.

Here's his latest statement (remember, they just...keep...ASKing!):

With the writers strike an integration of Shatner as Kirk is impossible. At least if he is not already in it. So no action - no matter by whom - will have any effect.

Yes, because death is such a permanent thing in trek.

Any every time it proves not to be so, Trek's claim to being drama of any distinction or aimed at anyone over the age of thirteen is diminished just a little bit more.

I don't know, I guess I just don't see the reasoning of "If there's going to be a kirk, Shatner has to at least be a part of it!"

Shatner can afford it cause i know i can't. I like star trek well and good but spending money on it is going a little too far.
