Totally silly non-sequitor...

Okay, so, when I was a kid, I used to buy whole bunches of little car and plane toys, like Hot Wheels and Matchbox. Once I got this spaceship toy, I think it was made by Corgi. Anyway, I loved that little sucker. I used to play with it all the time while I was living with my grandparents, but I didn't know there was anything genre-significant about it. I just thought it was a random spaceship toy.

Flash forward many years to after I joined the BBS, and lo and behold, someone - I think it was Starkers - had an image of the very same ship as his avatar, and it was like a movie still and stuff! Now, intriguing as that was, I didn't rush to try to find out what the ship might be - "Duh, Starkers, where's your avatar from?" - so it wasn't until recently that I found it was the Liberator from Blake's 7. Okay, now I know, but as I was finding out, I kept wondering why all the best shots seemed to be of the ship moving away from the camera.

So tonight, just a little while ago, I finally availed myself of an ep of Blake's 7 and saw the Liberator in motion...and realized I had it wrong all this time. When I had the toy, I thought the prongs were the engines and the big green globe was the cockpit, so there was me as a kid zooming that little bastich around ass-backward...

Imagine my surprise.

Okay, let me have it...

HEY! I had that same toy (two actually , the bigger one and one the size of a Hot Wheels basically) and when I moved back to Canada (from England) as a kid my aunt thought I was playing with it backwards ( I was playing with it the right way...pointy bits in front, green ball in back)

my closest thing to that is a couple of 3D models a friend on deviantArt posted... they had various parts you could recombine and after I'd made stuff from them I went to his versions and saw I'd had BOTH pf them going "backwards" lol... :D
