TOS-R on HD-DVD....the case!

Oh, I think it'll mark the end of the war. Paramount stubbornly held onto both Beta and DIVX years after both formats officially 'lost'.

Between their format choice and their insane price, I'm definately not getting any of TOS-R. Pity, because I do like it, but that's just insane. I'll just buy TOS (original) all over again on DVD.

DO you guys think they'll ever put out a 60's Grainy View Collector's Set? Complete with snow, only in black and white, and that'll only play on an Admiral 13" screen?

It's weird but I miss those days sometime!

This is Paramount for ya. They price the sets well out of the reasonable zone, but "make up for it" by having a pain in the ass case which looks "kewl." Not for anything, but I actually preferred the original series DVDs that came out one volume at a time. It was so much easier to get to the episode I wanted.

As an extra bonus, the visual quality on the two-packs is much better than the Season packs.

I thought the 4 pack captures actually look less grainy...interesting.

RAMA

The twin packs did have higher resolution than the later editions. This has been pretty well documented, most clearly by the folks at herocomm.com

I would love to get this set, but unless Amazon etc are selling it for half the price they're asking for it, I can't be bothered to pay Paramount's extortion.

^ Or win the Lottery, eh ? ^

* Good luck CBS tring to get fans buying TOS yet again *

I didn't buy it the first time because I wanted to see how things went with the Remastered. I'm less and less likely to be buying anything else Trek for a long time if they keep their prices as high as they do. Remastered or not, TOS isn't likely to be on my shelves anytime soon.

But have you worked out the total price for the people who collected all of the twin-packs? ;)

There's some math I wish I could forget...

$13.99 each X 40 DVD + $33 tax + $30 S&H = $622

For what it's worth, considering the countless times I've watched these disks over the last 6-7 years and how they've held up, it's been a worthwhile purchase.

But how I do like the idea of not dedicating an ENTIRE FRIGGIN' SHELF for the entire TOS run. :wtf:

But the relatively tiny difference in quality will not be noticeable on the average television, so it's all rather academic really.

It's down from 2 arms and 2 legs to 1 arm and 1 leg....

If you want to call that down that is ;)

Looks like it should have cookies in it rather than dvds.

The damn thing looks air tight... oh wait... element tight.
