TOS-R on HD-DVD....the case!

I know there are threads on the release of TOS-R in HD-DVD, but this is the first I've seen the case!

Can I get the pharmicist to replace the childproof lid? That looks like I'd spend more time getting the DVD out then the episode would last.

This is Paramount for ya. They price the sets well out of the reasonable zone, but "make up for it" by having a pain in the ass case which looks "kewl." Not for anything, but I actually preferred the original series DVDs that came out one volume at a time. It was so much easier to get to the episode I wanted.

The price of the set is obscene! The case is cool but looks like something that self-destructs from Mission Impossible.

But have you worked out the total price for the people who collected all of the twin-packs? ;)

Well, in my case, I bought them twice. I sold them off to buy the box sets then found I'd actually liked the individual volumes. So I bought them again, but at a substantial discount.

So, you strap onto the case some C40, no wait that'd ruin the disks.... A small firecracker perhaps ? A crow-bar ?

* Seriously, how do they expect folks to open the bloody case ? *

The season 1 HD-DVD box set has an MSRP of $217.99.

And no, I didn't insert the decimal in the wrong place and add an extra 9.

As an extra bonus, the visual quality on the two-packs is much better than the Season packs.

Like all other Trek series, I will throw away the case and put the discs in a much smaller (and more efficient) DVD sleeve.

I really hate it when DVDs are released in packaging that requires you to open one box, remove a sleeve, remove another box, remove ANOTHER fucking sleeve, etc. etc. *mad* like (for example) the original TOS discs were.

And I also hated the TNG ones, which require about 5 folds before you can get to the discs.

Is there some reason why they can't do what L&O releases have been doing, with the larger boxes containing individual DVD cases within them that can be taken out individually?

I'm not sure about that one. The link assumes that the two-packs must be of higher quality because there's fewer episodes on a disc (vs. the season packs). But the two-packs were not dual layer, whereas the season packs are, so there is plenty of room on the season packs for excellent quality.

Have you looked at the link though? That seems fairly conclusive to me.

I have looked at it, and I don't agree.
