TOS Merchandise Catalogs

Hambone

In cleaning out the garage last weekend, I came across some stuff from my junior high years, and lo and behold, there were some old Star Trek catalogs and other mailings! I thought I'd share them here.

By the way, if anyone has any old Lincoln Enterprises catalogs, I'd be interested in seeing them. Feel free to add scans of your own "collection" to this thread.

First up: Here's a postcard I received (note the postmark of April 4, 1975) announcing the "Star Trek" movie. I think this was the earliest I ever heard of the movie; this would have been before "Phase II" was planned. This was pretty exciting news!

Hambone, that postcard is great. I'm pretty sure i had that too.

Totally pisses me off that i don't have any of my old stuff--

Next up we have a catalog from "STAR TREK GALORE". In the days before VHS, we had to buy posters, lithographs and other various trinkets to get our "fix". Check out the prices on this stuff!

Fascinating stuff. It's interesting to see how much more accurate the rank braids and insignia patches have come since the early days of fandom.

Next up is an advertisement for "T-shirt iron-ons" that originally came with the AMT model kits. These would be guaranteed to help any junior high student get beat up during gym class. I recall that during Shatner's classic "Get A Life!" sketch on SNL, several of the cast members were wearing these shirts.

Wonderful stuff, Hambone. I started going to cons in the '80s, and I have programs on various bookshelves around the house, as well as some pins I bought. Nothing as interesting as your '70s collection, though.

Thanks,
Doug

Not Star Trek, but here's a brochure that was sent out by Lincoln Enterprises in 1977 announcing a new Gene Roddenberry series called "Spectre". It was kind of a supernatural/mystery show that Roddenberry was apparently concerned about: the brochure is a plea for fans (of a show that hadn't yet been aired) to write in to NBC, similar to the "Save Star Trek" campaign. Notice the carefully-worded instructions on how to write a "profesisonal" letter.

The show starred, among others, Roddenberry's wife Majel Barrett. And that looks like the Gorn's prettier cousin on Page 1.

good times..

Sadly, I lost all my FTP Star Trek stuff while I was moving in the military..

thanks for the memories..

Anybody remember Lincoln Enterprise's one and only tv commercial, featuring Majel Barrett behind a counter, surrounded by all manner of Star Trek merchandise, wishing everybody a "Happy Star Trektennial!"

I recall being in a dealer's room at an early convention and seeing a very familiar woman sitting at a table with Star Trek stuff. I was too shy to ask who she was but I thought it was Majel. Later, I found out it was she. Dumb me missed an opportunity to say hello.

She showed up unannounced at the LA con in '88 at the Lincoln Enterprises table. I did not waste that opportunity, and still have the autographed picture. :D

Here's a brochure announcing a book and record album about William Shatner written by two of the 1970's "keepers of the Star Trek flame"; Sondra Marshak and Myrna Culbreath. I never saw the book or the album. Did anyone have them? There's also a questionnaire; I'm not sure what the purpose of that was, since the authors did a pretty good job of "deifying" Shatner, Roddenberry, and Star Trek every chance they got.

I might have a version of that record. Is that the recording of one of his college shows from the mid-70s? The version I have is a two-record set, called "Captain of the Starship."

Also, I had that Keep on Trekkin' iron-on! Never got beat up over it, though. :)
