The Movies & TV stack exchange has a question asking whether the small model of the Enterprise 1701 from "Requiem for Methuselah" was ever used to depict the Enterprise in space.

It absolutely was. It can be seen in a few early episodes, and the stock footage even shows up in S3 "Is There in Truth No Beauty."

That is a work of love. See how different the Arena weapons effects are. I think the AMT model underside (saucer) had indentations of where Matt wanted phaser strips to be--or am I wrong?
