And the first Vorta was named Eris, which is the name for the Greek goddess of discord, and she certainly caused discord in her first appearance.

As did Valeris (ST VI). Kim Cattrall suggested "Eris" as her character's name (when she refused to be the third actress cast as Saavik), and Nick Meyer added the "Val-" prefix to make it sound more Vulcan. In fact, the draft script of ST VI calls the character "Saavik", and the final shooting script renders the name "Val'eris". By the time of the media releases, the apostrophe had been dropped.
