NOTE: I am ranking these based on enjoyment level and not on artistic quality
1. Guardians of the Galaxy: sheer fun. the most Star Wars-y non-Star Wars film I think I've ever seen. I can't believe how unbelievably sci-fi and comic book this movie was. Kudos!
2. X-Men: wonderful expansion of the movies. Great use of both casts, and by far the best use of powers in any X-Movie.
3. Dragon 2: an incredible improvement on a great first film. The animation and darkness and action and nuance was just absolutely incredible.
4. TFormers: yeah, it was very disappointing. yeah, the story was bad. yeah, the characters were bad. but it's still a Michael Bay Transformers movie which means it looks amazing.
5. Dawn Apes: a lot more thrilling than I expected, a huge improvement on a good first movie with an interesting story and characters. And flawless CGI.
6. Godzilla: I enjoyed this more than I expected. It looked incredibly real. Too bad the characters weren't better.
7. Edge Tmrw: another pleasant surprise. Great action, fast paced, avoided being repetitive, aside from the ending no complaints at all.
8. 22 Jump Street: I laughed so hard so much at this movie. So much funnier than I expected.
9. ASM2: this was my big disappointment of the summer. I thought this would finally be the perfect Spider-Man movie. With the vast array of villains in it, how could it NOT be full of great action and story? How wrong I was...
10. Maleficent: it was decent, but I was disappointed she wasn't actually evil. I wanted a movie starring a villain.
