Top Ten Movies of Summer '08

I consider a DeNiro/Pacino film rather "big".

BTW, Wall-E wasn't a huge smash hit. It barely (if you can call it that) made it past it's enormous budget of 180 million. It's sitting at 218 million and probably won't go much more than that. That isn't a lot for a Pixar movie (38 million) in profit but it should do well coming out on DVD.

Only saw 3, X-files, Dark Knight, Indy IV. X-files was my favourite by some distance.

I saw Indy IV soon after it was released and while it wasn't the best film, I found it enjoyable. Enjoyed the chase sequences.

They aren't weren't they used to be. Hence the placement of Righteous Kill in mid-September and not June or November.

It'll do modestly decent but its basically a buddy cop flick heavy on the drama and close ups.

1. The Dark Knight- awesome.
2. Mamma Mia! Lots of fun. Saw it twice- second time was a sing-a-long!
3. WALL*E- Brilliant
4. Pineapple Express- Funniest movie of the year.
5. Indy IV- flawed with a WTF? ending, but a great time anyway.
6. Tropic Thunder- an excellent send-up of movie making in general and war movies in particular.
7. Get Smart- a fun movie, nice update of the T.V. series.
8. Hancock- entertaining, but the plot got confusing.
9. You Don't Mess With the Zohan- funny stuff.

Missed Iron Man and Kung Fu Panda. Still want to see Hamlet 2 and House Bunny.

Top 5 of Summer '08, imo (cause I can't think of ten, lol):

1. The Dark Knight: Wow. This was just the best-Batman-movie-ever! Heck, it was the best movie of the summer. No, the year! I don't think any movie this year is going to top this!

2. Iron Man: Before DK, this was the best movie of the summer. Man, what a great origin story for Iron Man. Even better then any of the Iron Man comic books, imo.

3. Hellboy 2: Such a cool movie. Liked it even more then the first one (which I liked a lot). Just plain fun.

4. Hulk: Really good movie, imo. I liked it better then the first movie, which I did like. Lots of action and some cool comic book references!

5. Indiana Jones: Really fun movie. Indy 3 is still the best, but I'd put Indy 4 right after that. I enjoyed this movie a lot.

Movies I can't wait to see on Blu-ray:

The Dark Knight: Again. Its going to be awesome.

Iron Man: ditto.

Hellboy 2: ditto again.

Wall-E: Pixar! Nuff said'. Ok, a little bit more: this is going to be a must-buy for me. It looks so good!

Hancock: Looks good.

The Happening: I really wanted to see this, but didn't get the chance.
