Top Summer 2011 Movies

Cowboys and Aliens was seriously underwhelming..just saw it 2 days ago. Not much personality from the leads (a surprise), some silliness about 19th century cowboys being able to fight aliens centuries ahead in tech...ugh.

I did see Apes, and it was better than I thought, but it doesn't crack my top ten.

I'm still going to check out Cowboys & Aliens along with Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Conan.

For now my order would be:

4. X-Men: First Class
5. Transformers 3
6. Pirates 4
7. Green Lantern

Updating my list since I've seen 2 of the 3 I mentioned.

Frankly I thought this was kind of a mediocre summer for movies, overall.

There were some decent ones like Apes, Captain America, and Super 8, and a few diverting guilty pleasures like Cowboys and Green Lantern, but nothing I would consider truly GREAT. Nothing that really wowed me or blew me away like in previous years.

I've seen it since I made my last post, and it definitely was a knockout experience of the summer. Hollywood's been pretty thin on watchable blockbusters, but Apes made up for it.

I went into this summer wanting to watch a bunch of summer blockbuster movies.

I only ended up watching: Thor and X-Men: First Class.

Well maybe next year!

1. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes (by a comfortable margin).

2. X-Men: First Class.
3. Thor.
(Both are great. First Class has the edge imo.)

4. Captain America (Very good mostly, dropped the ball near the end).

5. Um... I'm sure I must have seen some other good ones. Haven't seen Tree Of Life or Super 8, but they sound appealing. Neither Green Lantern nor Pirates 4 interested me.
