Top 50 Movie Special Effects Shots

Nice list, great to see what was Number 1, which is what I was gonna say- The T-Rex walking out of the pen in Jurassic Park
Scared me shitless when I first saw at the cinema it on my 9th birthday, and the CGI still holds up 100% today
Hey we're the same age then! I was 9 when I saw that in movies as well. Except I just sat there with a huge grin, loving every minute of it. All the while my dad tried to comfort my sister who was sacred shitless  She was only seven at the time though, poor thing.

Though many - if not most - are sci-fi/fantasy related, there is an impressive number there that were from other genres. And that's a good thing.

I'm sure the guy has heard from a long list of people about other scenes/films he left out. Must have been pretty tough to whittle it down to just these 50. Then again, there are scenes that impress me whichmay not be any more impressive than dozens of others, simply because I don't have the eye to notice the finer points.

What impresses me is the amount of explanation that is present in most of these entries. Explaining the "why" has always been more interesting to me when one of these lists comes up.

Agreed. Reading through the entries was a mini-education for me. Thanks for posting.

Interesting about the Back to the Future one. It was either during the Roger Rabbit audio commentary or one of the BTTF commentaries that that process was explained and it was low-tech enough that could make heads and tails of it.

BTW, did anyone watch the clip from "Frenzy" in that list? Could you tell where the transition that the reviewer refers to actually takes place?
My guess would be at 0:58 in the clip, when someone (a couple?) walks across the field of view as the camera is backing out of the doorway. I think the the angle is slightly different after the person(s) has passed. Look at how the doorbell ringer button seems to have leaped upward.
