I've looked at the top theories for what the plot of DSC may entail, and the evidence for and against these theories:

0:28 5. Shenzhou = Discovery (Shenzhou is destroyed and remade)
1:47 4. Massacre at Tarsus IV (Kodos the Executioner)
3:05 3. Covert Ops (specialised vessel)
4:37 2. Battle of Donatu V (Federation vs Klingon skirmish)
5:40 1. MUTINY! (aka Garth of Izar)

Hope you enjoy. Hopefully, I've not missed out on a major theory. I've since realised that it is not atypical for a Lt Cmdr to be first officer so that does discount against theory 1...

Can you elaborate further: Do you mean skipping forwards at the end of each season (I love that concept)? I assume that's because the Shenzhou looks more modern than would be expected in the timeframe for DSC?

One thing to note: Fuller did rule out time travel as a major plot point. However, he did post cryptic responses to those asking for a post-DS9 series saying something along the lines of, "All good things..."...

I'm still going for the Vulcanian Expedition - in which they encounter the Hur'q/Sarcophagus Klingons.
I'd not looked into that theory before, but seems very interesting. Thing is, how would you do a show based on that but not feature Kirk? Or would we just see him in passing?

I don't think that the Massacre at Tarsus IV will feature as the event is too early in the timeline. However they may make reference to it somehow. Perhaps the Lt. Stamets was motivated to become an astromycologist because of the incident on Tarsus IV.

The battle of Donatu five is impossible: Spock said that "The battle of Donatu Five was fought near here twenty three solar years ago" (The Trouble With Tribbles). That would place the battle around 2245, at least 10 years before Discovery.

I would like to see that too. If we do then we might get to see a young Kirk as we know he was a part of the expedition. In 2254 he was an Ensign training on the USS Republic with Finney and Timothy.

Damn; yes Donatu V timing is indeed off.

The Vulcanian Expedition does seem intriguing; as there is very little mentioned in canon apart from the term itself it lends itself to a voyage of exploration, possibly with multiple starships going on the same expedition into the unknown... with the USS Discovery specialised for the journey, hence it's unique looks..

You heard it her first.

Her who? :rommie:

I like the idea of tapping into the almost blank slate that is the Vulcanian Expedition. It could be pretty much anything. But i'll be honest, I have no idea at all what Discovery is going to be about at this point, except that whatever the main narrative is, the perspective of the narrative should be fresh enough for a Star Trek show.

I think DSC will be "none of the above".

Mutiny/Garth reminds me of the lawsuit that I'd just as soon forget :(

There's no "none of the above" option, which is sorely needed in this case since it's not terribly likely that any of those five options is correct.

Yeah, they should just say "Vulcan" then. Unless they think this show is going to have UESPA crew members running around in ill-fitting velour shirts while shouting "The women!".
