Tomb Raider The Series (Amazon)

Honestly, I'm surprised we didn't get a series sooner.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge writing gives me a lot of hope for it.

At one point they were in talks to make Sophie Turner into Tomb Raider. Then the news stopped. I wonder if they reached an agreement and will announce it at the Upfront event they will hold for advertisers in May?

Despite all the money spent on Tomb Raider and the opening of two script rooms, there is still no script.

^ Word is they keep writing "amazingly sensitive and fiercely anti-colonialist" pilots in which Lara realizes that cultural appropriation is exploitative and decides to become an anthropologist dedicated to preserving native folklore and languages, but that they're having trouble thinking up popcorn-worthy action stories for the next few episodes... :p

I like Fleabag, but other than basic screenwriting competence, I don't see why it would point to Waller-Bridge as being the ideal candidate to write/head a pulp adventure show. A Tomb Raider show should feature an attractive, athletic young woman doing Indiana Jones-type stuff. It's meat-and-potatoes genre stuff that hardly cries out for a unique authorial voice, any more than, say, a hypothetical GI Joe show would cry out for a writer like Aaron Sorkin.
