Sorry you didn't get to spend more time with your granddaughter Tom. Rest in peace.

WHAT?! Jesus Christ, Tom Petty gone? I can't believe it. Great songwriter, great band, great performer, seen him many times. Loved him on King of the Hill. This sucks.

He was also on It's Garry Shandling's Show a bunch of times and The Larry Sanders Show, and now he and Shandling are both gone at 66? I'd never have guessed it. :(

UGH.. Now they are saying there are conflicting reports.. yes.. He's been taken off life support, but not that he's passed.. I'm so sorry... I should have checked a few other sources. Either way... this is horrible news. :(

Yeah. I have a feeling I'll be playing that album in the next few days. The re-release was pretty damned good.

It sounds like they've taken him off life support, but he hasn't passed yet.

Ugh... Now I'm seriously hoping this is one of those internet hoaxes and that we'll hear from Tom who's been just hanging out on a beach in Hawaii, telling us that he's fine and not to worry.. This day has been SHIT!!!

Damn it, this makes me incredibly sad. He was one of those artists who quietly did good work year after year -- sometimes very popular, sometimes not. But he was always there... until now.
